Persuasive Speech Topic?

Ok, so I need help with finding a topic for my persuasive speech. It has to follow the problem-solution structure. Any ideas? Anyone here ever done a persuasive speech like this? I was thinking about doing the problem with aluminum bats prior to professional baseball.

Skipping the boring political subjects (global warming, abortion...) and the topics that everyone else will do (BCS, drugs/alcohol, and parking), you've got few choices:

1. Education in Alabama-education always 'resonates' with educators

2. Any sort of civil rights discussion. Martin Luther King+Alabama school=A

3. Staying unbanned on the OS College Football Forum-I could co-write the speech with you

SRSLY tho, the bat thing should be fine. Unless you're a bad man when it comes to writing speeches.

The only problem is the speech has to be 10 minutes. I could BS my way through anything but my prof is the coach of the debate team here at UA(which is one of, if not the, top debate school in the country) so he'll see right through my bs.

Then pick a topic you know and bring the fax. 10 minutes isn't that long. 2 minutes on the issue, 3 minutes on the problem, 4 minutes on the solution, 1 minute dropping knowledge.

If everyone in the class is going to give a speech, he's not going to grade it that hard.

I did one on stem cell research. The topic has been money for me since I wrote a paper on it in high school.

Way back in the spring of 1996, I had a speech class my freshman year of college. My persuasive speech for that was on abortion. Needless to say there was a lot of discussion going on in class that day. Not sure if I successfully persuaded anyone to my side or not.

It's hard to persuade anyone on an issue like that in a short speech.

The entirety of the United States should be obese.

Reasons..

1. It would stimulate the economy. Food sales alone would boost us from this deficit.
2. More jobs would be created, and unemployment would be a non-issue. Again, the demand for food would bring about tons of job in the production and shipping industries. Plus, farmers would always have somewhere to go with their food. The clothing industries would need to make bigger and stronger clothes to wrap these beheamoths in.. so more jobs would be created in cotton mills, production warehouses, etc. Finally, furniture would have to be built bigger and stronger, as well.
3. Entertainment would be insane. Can you imagine watching a baseball game with 400lb guys playing the field? Instead of the Miss America Pageant, we could have the Obesity Pageant, where the biggest woman would be awarded a crown of onion rings.. that she could eat later. Now, you guys thought Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest was insane.. that would be small potatoes. We could have a Pig Eating Contest -- where we could see who could take down the most full pigs in twelve minutes.

I agree. Freshman mistake I guess. I did get a pretty good grade. I should have gone with another topic though.
