Ok, this is coming from someone who admitly has slight anger issue with sports. Sometimes with Basketball and a lot with Golf I can get extremely upset when I play. My problem is that I expect the best out of myself all the times. To me it doesn't make sense for anyone to be happy when they don't put their best performance out there. The thing I have been working on is controlling my anger. I remember hearing that Tiger Woods only lets himself get upset about a shot for 5 seconds and then he moves onto thinking about the next shot. That is the mentality I've been trying to use. Get upset but get over it quick. I think it is important to get upset with yourself when you are performing poorly, but don't let it effect the rest of your game.

You never know, like that movie "The Fan" someone in his family may have been kidnapped and then he was told he would have to hit a homerun that game, or the person kidnapped would be killed.

There are guys that are so competitive that they'd rather die than lose. Take Michael Jordan for example, the guy doesn't care if it's basketball, cards, baseball, racing - u name it, and he doesn't care if he makes millions or nothing - he wants to win.

Yea I'm not saying don't try or anything. Like today for example we had BP on the field and there were a couple in a row that I hit straight up and off the net, now I did have that second of frustration, but while I was getting reset I was sitting there thinking "What could I do this time to not do what I just did" and what do you know I almost hit a homerun to left (315 or 320 can't remember) With the wind blowing the ball back in. Just a little bit foul and about 30 feet short. Probably would have gone out with the wind behind it.

And another story from today.

I did kinda get ticked off today, the kid I mentioned in the first paragraph in my first post. Well, his buddy (mostly for drinking) was complaining today at practice. It was either hit on the field or hit inside, there was no one else today on the field so I felt we should have taken the opprutuity and hit on the field because we don't get many chances to do it. Well my friends buddy is complaining because its friday and he wants to go home and the weather is cold. (Weather was 50's with some wind it wasn't too bad if you had a hoodie and sweatpants, which everyone did). So after hearing him complain and not try to put any effort out into getting the field ready to hit I turned to him and just said
"If you don't want to hit go home"
I told him this because he hadn't help get the field ready at all, and he was probably going to go hit on it and complain some more. He looks and me and gets angrier and starts saying "What would happen if I did, I would get in trouble" ect, ect. While at the same time a couple of other kids got onto me because I finally said something to someone. Well short story he probably is still ticked off at me and I don't really care, because there was no reason for him to complain, we were out there because we will get a lot better hitting on the field than if we went inside and hit.

Not really, honestly I'm the opposite of a bossy person. It just ticked me off that we had an opprutunity to get better and all this kid wanted to do was go home, he is a starter on our team BTW

Plus, it was one of the few times that I actually said something to someone.

I saw it a couple of times. Baseball is a beautiful game but, it's a sport of failure. You produce 30% of the time and you're a professional. I produce 30% of the time I don't eat.

I was talking with a teammate of mine during our baseball game today. He was 0-2 with 2 K's off a pretty good pitcher and he was frustrated like he usually gets when that happens. He comes over by me and just looks frustrated like none other. I looked at him and then said

"Hey Man are you getting paid to play out here?"
He gave me a simple no so I said
"Just take it easy man, you're not getting paid to play, just play and have fun"
I told him that because when I get frustrated or stop having fun I don't play so well. Then he told me that Baseball was his life.

I didn't say anything back but I kinda felt sad for him. He is sitting here completely stressing out over something that is supposed to be fun. I mean we still are playing at the high school level its supposed to be competitive but its only JV right now. Now I'm not saying to not try or anything but I realized that I play alot better if I go out there to have fun.

So what do you guys think about what I said to him?
