Guess you can't play hooky during big events then....
BTW as for doctors here there can be long waits but the good thing is I never have to pay. Just show them my OHIP (Ontario Health Insurance Plan) card and all is done.
Cable companies are fairly good here at least in my experience. They usually come by when they say they're coming.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

) is about 40-second walk from our house but it's hard to make an appointment to see a doctor. U can sit there for 1-2 hours unless u made an appointment some days before (but how the hell could I know I was going to be sick???!). My health center (I belong to another and better one) is a bit farer (a 12-minute walk lol) but I can just call early in the morning or the evening before and I have an appointment.

Re: OS Off Topic
So my supervisor decided that 5 of us in my department (including me, of course) will have InDesign course at work. 6 lessons of 3 hours each, and it will be every Sunday from 17:30 or 18:00, which means that I'm gonna spend at least 12 hours at work every Sunday. Hopefully there won't be any "I know it's 21:00 but we got something real urgent so can u please stay another 20 minutes to accomplish it?" Re: OS Off Topic
Before I get into my rant on the download for naught I have to ask...
youvalss you're in Israel can you tell me how the 60th Anniversary of the country being founded is going? Is it being treated like a holliday and such?
Ok now onto my weekend of sorrow (well not really but I'm pissed) So I downloaded something that took about 4 days. When the download was done I was half asleep so I decided I wanted to move the data to another folder. I made a mistake and lost three quarters of the downloaded content!
The worst thing was I had already deleted the downloaded files so there was no way of just bringing it back up. Needless to say I had to delete everything.

Re: OS Off Topic
I'm not sure I understand what u asked, but I'll try to answer. What we usually have here on independence day are live shows of the best artists here (I don't go to these shows since I don't like being surrounded by thousands of people), there are fireworks in every city (usually around 9pm) and most of the local channels (not forign) show Israeli classic movies and shows. But I should say that the day before independence day is our memorial day (the second memorial day other than the holocaust memorial day). On memorial day we have a siren for 1-2 minutes at 8pm the evening before and at 11am. What happens during the siren is that every1 stands still and tries to think about this day. I know it sounds weird but it's on of the things I'm most proud of here (and there aren't many things). So at around 8pm that day, memorial day is over and independence day starts (actually it's independence day eve) and then we have all the shows etc. The sad thing is that the families that lost members (in wars, terror attacks etc.) can't make the mental switch to the celebrations because they live every second of their lives with the sorrow, so I always feel guilt for making that switch from a "sad" day to a "happy" day. on memorial day we usually work half-day (unless u get stuck until 3-4 pm because u have a lot of work to finish) and the next day (independence day itself) is a national holiday. As for the 60th Anniversary, it was just like any other independence day to me). Most people are having a picnic or BBQ out in the parks, but my wife and me don't do it because when all the people are out it's better to stay at home (great TV shows, remember?). On independence day eve we went to my brother and his wife's parents came there to, and we went down to the yard next to their home because u can see the local fireworks very good from there and u don't need to stick to 500 people. My parents went to Berlin, Germany for a week but believe it or not - they celebrated our independence day there! There was a BIG happening and celebrations for the 60th anniversary and they had a lot of fun!
Hope that answers your questions...

Re: OS Off Topic
Thanks, that answered my questions very well. It seems to be a very emotional time for most people but at least for 48 hrs the entire country can reflect on those that have passed and at the same time celebrate and be thankful for the creation of Israel as an independent state.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club
