Seattle is simply one of the most beautiful cities in America. If he lives in Redmond though, expect him to pay big money for a place to live.

I think they give you a place to live, at least they did when I was looking a few years ago.

Yea, they offer a suite or one bed condo. I hate it that he will be 3000 miles away!
He took an offer to work with a team on IIS(i think thats it) over database. Have no idea which is what?

I used to live in Bellevue close to the MS campus in Redmond. Its a beautiful area with everything you need in the Bellevue/Redmond area. Seattle is a short drive over the 520 bridge, but traffic can be a bitch around 520 and 405 during rush hour.

My biggest issue with the area are the clouds. It doesn't rain nearly as much people think it does (NYC gets more rain that Seattle), but its cloudy 2/3 of the year. The clouds come off the Pacific and get trapped over Puget Sound by the Cascade mountains. The summers are amazing though. July thru September are low 80's and sunny nearly every day.

I would say look at the complex he will be working at and what services they offer there, do you need a car or is there good transportation options, etc. From what I remember, they put you in a 4 room apartment with other people there interning. You end up working long hours depending on your project, so you want to have options for recreation close by.
