    Speeding tickets & driving laws

Well I got my first speeding ticket a couple days ago. First offense so no issues there. I was going 10 over (don't these cops have anything better to do?) but the officer only cited me for 5 over. 5 over in Iowa got me a $65 ticket, and 10 over woulda landed me a $105 ticket.

So I was wondering how much tickets cost in your state.

I haven't got one yet, but I have something that just bugs me. I live in a suburb of Toledo, to get to Toledo you can drive through other suburbs, the most notorious of these is Ottawa Hills. Now there is already some dislike for Ottawa Hills compared to a lot of the other suburbs (it is more like one of those "elite" places). The cops there are horrible. I am NOT stretching this by any means. The speed limit through a main road in Ottawa Hills (which starts in Sylvania and makes it into downtown Toledo) is 35 for this stretch. People get pulled over for 37, I am not kidding at all. The cops there all go about 45 though.

I think I was going 48mph in a 35, my fine was about $153. This was in Georgia.

Yes, Georgia is horrible for the fines. Usually I don't see many cops, they don't bother to pull people over on the highways where I drive, everyone is going 70+ in 55MPH if there isn't traffic. I have been pulled over twice though, once it was $250+ for something like 19 over in 35, cop lied it was 10 over and they setup a speed trap, but what can you do.

I got a 89 in a 55 a couple months ago. It ended up costing me $260 or something like that, and 5 points on the license.

80 mph in a 70 mph got me a "$10 ticket" but it had a $200 court fee added on top that I had to pay regardless. Nice way for the city to keep most of the ticket money even if you get it thrown out I suppose.
