    What would you recommend?

So as some of you may know I now have an Xbox 360 and have had one for about three months now. I'm really looking to expand my game collection as this is what I have now:

    Guitar Hero 2
    Call of Duty 4
    Marvel: Ultimate Alliance
    Forza Motorsport 2

I've played the hell out of GH2 and COD4.. and Ultimate Alliance/Forza never really interested me a whole lot. So I came up with a list of games that really interest me and I was wondering if I could get some feedback from the most trusted gaming community on the Net.

Here are the games I am considering picking up.. any feedback/suggestions/hints to keep the price down, or anything are much appreciated. Thanks a lot. Also if you have any other ideas hook me up.

    Game List (no order)

    Halo 3
    Guitar Hero 3
    Splinter Cell Double Agent
    Saints Row
    Rainbow Six: Vegas
    Burnout Paradise
    The Simpsons Game
    The Orange Box
    College Hoops 2K8
    Call of Duty 2
    GRAW 2
    Ace Combat 6

Also keep in mind that GTA 4 and NCAA 09 will be on this list as well. thanks for the help guys.

Guitar Hero 2 is better than 3 IMO. If you are thinking about GHIII, I'd just get Rockband instead. Way more songs, and better at that. Saints Row is a good game, but GTA 4 is just like it so I wouldn't get that. Depending on how much you play COD 4, Halo 3 might not be a good option as its basically just an online game. Simpsons is fun, but short.

If you were me, I'd probably get a combo of Halo-College Hoops-Rockband-Rainbow. But thats just me.

      Re: What would you recommend?

I agree about 'Rock Band'....GHIII was just a quick buck for Activision. Going back to the Guitar Hero franchise PERIOD is painful after 'Rock Band'.

I'm a big fan of the Ghost Recon brand, and there are tons of map packs, though unfortunately most randoms now play deathmatch only. RB6V2 is a good game for some, but it's not one I like too much as I suck (and as always single player in these shooters is nigh worthless).

Halo is fun if you like the "run & gun" of COD4, Splinter Cell online is great AND unique though I'm not sure how many play it (didn't finish single player), why buy 'College Hoops' when the season is over, 'Orange Box' is an AMAZING value and 'Portal' is unforgettable while TF2 is a great change of pace online (the patches have finally fixed it) and they might have free maps, Simpsons is fun and not at all short if you hunt for the items, and why buy 'Saints Row' when the sequel is due out this summer and well...GTAIV...the franchise they copied blatantly, is due out in a few weeks.

But I don't have my blue name.

As for the latter, I'm not sure what you are implying...

I think there's an option somewhere to turn the blue name on/off. I guess that could be your problem.

Bioshock is a very good game that could probably be had for a good price on Ebay now.

                  Haven't found it yet...

I totally forgot about 'BioShock' though! That game is a moody trip from start to finish, though the ending(s) are a bit lacking, IMO.

As for the games, if you liked COD and are a fan of run and gun shooters then you'll probably enjoy Halo 3. If you are more of a fan of tactical shooters then Rainbow is the way to go. Orange Box is a great buy for its value because it has 5 games. All Half Life 2, Episode 1 and 2 all have great story lines and are fun to play through if you've never played the series before. Portal is a short, but very, very fun and amusing game and it alone made the purchase worthy for me. Team Fortress is a fun shooter to play, but there isn't that many games on XBL to join compared to Halo or Rainbow.

I actually liked playing the guitar parts on GH3 more than I did on Rock Band. The only song that is really challenging on Rock Band was Green Grass and High Tides. Guitar Hero has a lot more challenging songs whether you like it or not as the last 2 tiers are hell to pass through (still stuck on Stricken, KOC, and 3's & 7's). As a whole though Rock Band is more fun though because of the drums and the fact that you can have 4 people playing at once. If you're just going to play guitar though I'd recommend GH3 over Rock Band.

I still haven't finished it yet. Ever since I picked up the PS3 I haven't played my 360.

The Orange Box is an incredible package. I had Half-Life 2 when it first came out, but I still bought The Orange Box because it is still worth it for the additional episodes.

I'll go ahead and echo the comments about the Orange Box. Just an incredible value and fun all the way around. I didn't think I'd like Portal because I like my FPS games to have things for me to kill, but once I started playing it, I couldn't stop. TF2 is so much, so far the only real class-based multiplayer game on XBL.

If you're looking for a football game, go with All Pro Football. You could probably find a copy for cheap, and creating a team, uniforms, customizing your playbook to your style then playing with that team is a lot of fun. If you play online, then you'll more than get your money's worth out of it.

If you like action/RPGs, Mass Effect was incredible. Gears of War single and multiplayer is a lot of fun, it's also a very good coop game.

Echoing sportsdude, 'Mass Effect' is fantastic as well...I've already gone through the game three times and will surely complete a fourth before the sequel drops (still haven't done the DLC mission).

If your a big fan of College Basketball I would suggest you pick up 2k8. This is the last year of the series but with the addition of the 2k share I'm sure some of the great roster editors on this site will make this game fun for years to come.
