    2009 Jaguar XF

I saw a commercial for this car earlier today and thought it looked very nice. The Pittsburgh Auto Show is next weekend so I'm going to take a closer look at it there. Are there any OS members who have had a chance to look at this car? Any impressions or thoughts about Jaguar in general?

    Here are some pictures:

It always makes me laugh that I hear a new car for the next year is unvaled. I mean, it's got to the point where we hear about a new car almost a year before. So u buy a 2009 now, and u drive it for 8 months and by the time it's 2009 u have dozens of thousands of miles on it. LOL

I haven't seen this car in action but I have read about it quite a bit. Honestly, I'm pretty disappointed.

The car is based of the Jaguar concept C-XF which is a thing of beauty. Also based of the X and S classes.

This how the front of the XF was suppose to look like:

        Very nice look.

You got the luxury Bentley type grille while having the aggressive head light lining.

Unfortunately they changed the headlight and took out the carbon fiber trim and replaced it with a chrome one.

The look reminds me much of a Volvo... the front anyway. The rear though +1 as it looks much like a Aston Martin.

From what I've read and talked to people in the business, they tell me the interior is top notch and one of the best in the business of this class.

As far as the speed, it is a little puzzling. A V8 300 HP? Surprised they didn't just stick a V6 in there since many already achieve that speed. However, it is impressive as it hits the 0-60 mark in 6 seconds.

The buzz around the industry is Jaguar has scored with a winner here. Top notch interior, good speed for a sports sedan but a boring look to it and I agree. If they were able to carry more of C-XF modeling over to the XF it would be a huge score. But they didn't.

The front looks just really boring and bland and for $50K you want something more appealing and able to stand out of the competition. In my opinion the BMW, Audi, and Lexus over take looks wise which is a shame because the fire power and interior is top notch.

The only experience I have with Jaguar is the XKR. I drove it at a track a couple times. Not enough to base a decision off but it was solid.

Yeah I definitely like the concept front end better. I'm not sure why they changed that. With that said, I don't think the XF' front end looks bad, just a bit less aggressive. The interior really caught my eye. Probably one of the best I've seen.

My biggest concern with this car is that it's RWD. I've read a lot about it this weekend and many are claiming that with a good set of snow tires and putting the car in snow mode, it will run fine. I don't know.

I was looking at the Lexus GS350 AWD, but the XF caught my eye. I'll have to take a closer look at both when I go to the car show. I test drove the GS350, but not the XF yet. I hope to do that in the next few weeks.

If you get a good set a snow tires you should be good to go and it won't be much of a problem, if any. This is from personal experience.

However, it won't be a GS350 AWD where you'll be cruising through that Pittsburgh snow like nothing.

Good snows on a RWD will give you as good handling on snow as front wheel drive.

Thanks guys. When one of you lives in MN and the other lives in IL, you definitely know what you're talking about with snow. We get maybe 2-4 really bad days a year in Pittsburgh so it's not that bad. I just don't want to get stuck somewhere if I do go the RWD route (which I'd prefer).
