How Safe/Trustworthy Are Taxis When Drinking?

I just wanted to ask y'all to see what you all think.

My girl brought this up to me and I had to ask myself and wasn't really sure of the answer.

She talked about how she doesn't like being the designated driver cause it's boring. Neither do her friends. But she said to me:

"I don't like the idea of a couple of girls, getting into a cab drunk with a cab driver. Couldn't he take you wherever he wanted? It also seems like it would be pretty easy for him to take advantage of drunk girls (sexually) if he wanted. He could also just drive around for a long time and just charge us whatever he wanted."

I never thought about that before. I told her that I didn't think it was a very good idea to have all the girls in her group, or if it's just her and one other girl, to be drinking at the same time in the first place.

But what do you guys think. How safe are these taxis?

And not just for females drinking. But males as well. Seems like they could still drive around for a while to increase the fare, or just straight up jack you if you are really hammered.

I don't know. I'm not experienced with cabs AT ALL.

    So what you think fellas?

Just like any profession you are bound to find your creeps. But for the most part with drunk guys anyway, the taxi driver is praying he doesnt get robbed.

I've always felt more comfortable with getting a Taxi anytime, over having a DD friend b/c I can never trust anyone in my group to ever be the freakin DD.

Then the next day you find out your DD had more drinks then you did, Maybe a few girls could lead to a smaller problem but I still say it's fine.

I usually feel pretty safe in cabs. A lot of times they can be hillarious experiences. Like the time my wife and I and some of our friends were in a cab in which the front passenger seat was replaced with a video monitor that was playing a "booty shakin'" video called "The Shakedown". We all laughed for about 10 minutes straight after getting out of the cab.
