    DVR Question??

When I had my DVR with Time Warner Cable I could record something then switch from that channel to watch a different show which was great, now ever since I have my DVR with DISH I can't figure out how the hell to do this? I set something to record but as soon as I switch from that channel it says if I do so the recording will stop.
My question is there a way to record and change to another channel with DISH DVR?
Any help would be great because this problem is getting very annoying.

    Re: DVR Question??

It depends on the type of DVR and if it has dual tuners. If I were you, I'd call DISH and see if their DVR is a dual tuner DVR (or look it up online based on model).

if it is a dual tuner, then it may be setup to output that to another tv, if that is the case, it will act as a single tuner for each tv

I'm not familiar with that DVR, but the feature set sounds like what p_rushing stated. It sounds like it has dual tuners, but wants to output each tuner to a different TV.

I'm not sure what you can do about that aside from contacting DISH and seeing if they'll replace it with a dual tuner DVR.

There is a setting in the menus that says something like 1 or 2 tvs. If you look at the front of the box, there should be a MODE sign and a light on the 2 screen picture. You need to change this to the 1.

I don't remember how to do this, but it is either on the front of the box or in the system menus. I don't know if this model will do this, but the older one would allow you to watch PIP when you put it in SINGLE mode. DON'T DO THIS IF YOU ARE USING THE ONE BOX FOR VIEWING ON 2 TVs.

            Here is a picture
