Someone explain this one to me

What is the purpose to this rule? Why is this a violation? What are they trying to prevent?

I don't understand the rule or what they are preventing but it was a nice read just to read about the good sportsmanship that the other girls showed. Nice to see that sometimes justice prevails when injustice has seemingly been committed.

to the girl who finished 2nd but gave her State Champion medal to the DQ'd girl.

I don't think you can run on the line, you must be between the lines, otherwise you are outside the track, meaning you are running a shorter distance than everyone else.

Yeah, I think that's the reasoning, but a nice gesture by the girls anyway.

I think the focus on this story shouldn't be why the girl got disqualified, but rather what the other girls' did afterwards.

it was on the outer edge of the track...so technically she was running a farther distance than everyone else.

I'm aware of the main point of the story. I was just wondering why what she did was worthy of DQing in the 1st place.

I'd like to see a video of this because it seems weird to me that runners would bunch up by the outside line.

The article says she made her move when she stepped out. The only reason I could see her stepping out is because she needed to get around the runners. Why are runners out there instead of the inside part of the track?

Don't worry. I didn't take anything ill behind it. I was just thinking you thought I ignored the gist of the story. It was a nice mature thing the girls did. I just didn't get why the opportunity to make the gesture happened in the 1st place.

I honestly didn't think that man. Because to be honest, I still have no idea why things happened the way they did there.

Uhm... it says in the article it was the inside line.

"According to the News Tribune, officials ruled that Cochran had taken three consecutive steps on the inside line along the far curve on the next-to-last lap of the race, which is when she had made her move to take the lead and break free of the pack."

It was inside line on the turn furthest from the finish line... the "far curve."

LOL, that would be funny to see - if she was that bad *** that she ran the outer lane of the track the entire race and still smoked the field.
