So I went ahead and gave the guy neutral feedback, because the product shipped on time, and the game worked anyway... In retrospect, I was being REAALLYY lenient on this, almost too much... but then the weird thing happened...

The seller sends me this long *** email threatening me to take down my neutral feedback, or else he would give me a negative. He went into detail, noting my perfect 100 percent rating and saying that he will damage it if I didn't withdraw it... He also was like "well, you got it for cheap, so what do you expect!?"

WTF? I replied, stating that I stand by my neutral, and the only reason why it's not a negative was that the shipping time was better than expected and the price was good. Hours later he shot me a negative rating that said "I give negative feedback for neutrals. Now you know."

So the new rules help prevent sellers from threatening people like that.. why should I get the damage when I did my part of the transaction, while the seller doesn't? I shouldn't have to be scared to drop a neutral to a seller that deserves it ya know?

You should send this to Ebay and see if they won't take that negative mark off of there.

Well, it's no big deal now, because with these new rules it only calculates the ratings of transactions within the last 12 months (incident happened way back in 06)... my rating is now back up to 100 percent.

I didn't bother to do so at the time because I knew that dealing with ebay or paypal with any kind of issue becomes a pain in the bum when it involves waiting for the other seller/buyer to respond, plus additional time by the company themselves, etc. If the price were higher than I would have definitely done something about it.

yep, the hassle is just too annoying to bother with stuff that isn't like a hundred dollar digital camera. I got ripped off of $50 and so, and let it go, just because it was all stacked against me. The guy even sent me a package with nothing in it just to give paypal a tracking number to my address. Paypal closed the complaint as resovled when they got that.

Wow... as annoyed as I would've been reading this... I didn't know feedback is only from the last year.

It should be from the last 2 years IMO... but regardless, I'm back at 100% since the only negative I've ever had was over 5 years ago.

Seems like they should also implement a rule that feedback scores are not revealed to either party or to the public until both parties have posted their score, thus eliminating the "eye for an eye" negative feedback that happens when they party who actually screwed up penalizes the other party because they received a deserved neagative score.

I've bought 2 or 3 things on ebay. 1 was screwed up. I won the item, then Seller said they didn't have any more. Then the next day, puts the same item back up. So I get my money back, but I leave negative feedback. I'm sorry if you don't have it now, how can you put the same thing up for bid again. The Seller then leaves me negative feedback saying I was rude, didn't respond, etc.

After I got the item from another seller, I haven't used them again and don't think I will unless I can't get it any where else.

Besides the problems with feedback, one of my biggest complaints is the ability to get the contact information of anyone you have done business with. I noticed someone mentioning getting e-stalked but that person could have contacted ebay with a bs reason for needing the contact information and they will give them your phone number, now try getting phone calls constantly from the person. I had a problem with a buyer a month or so ago and talked to a rep online and all they kept wanting me to do was call the guy, I didnt feel comfortable having his contact info so I declined and it got worked out through email eventually, but imo, ebay should not be giving out personal contact info to anyone, hell, I dont want my email address being given to the person directly let alone my phone number.

Not trying to be a dick, just a serious question. When I buy stuff if they have 1 or 2 negative feedbacks out of a hundreds I give them the benefit of the doubt, but maybe most don't?

In my case, I could care less about buying stuff from a one or two or ten negative seller. But there's the population that do care about it and that's already a handful of people that decide not to bid --> less money that could be made by the seller.

This does piss me off because I was at 100% since 2004 with almost 800 feedback comments. Now due to one neutral, I am at 99.6%. That is unfair and ridiculous by stupid ebay.

People on eBay are hilarious. I had to tell one guy he was amusing.

He purchased an item from my company. Tells me the next day he'll pay. I wait ONE MONTH for payment. I sent invoices, emails, and got nothing. I get eBay involved and finally he responds back, "I want to pay for the item."

So I say, whatever let him do it. He does.

He pays for it and because I needed to get a custom sized box to fit the item I couldn't ship it immediately. It took me a week after payment. Exactly a week once payment cleared.

He then starts emailing me telling me that he wants his money back if I don't hurry up and ship it. Now, yes, I realize it took me a while to ship but I had to tell this guy that he needs to realize where he's coming from. Making me wait one month for payment and then he wants to get an attack over one week? And it was going to be shipped 2nd Day Air. Amusing.

Yeah... the people that take forever to pay are definitely annoying. I want to establish a new rule where if the buyer decides to be a lazy *** and not pay on time without any excuses, then I can be a lazy *** and ship the item anytime up to or equal the amount of days past the end bid date, and not get penalized for it. But I can always dream.

It should never really take more than 2 days to pay. It's especially annoying when you see that they won the auction in the last couple of minutes, and then they take a couple of days to pay. Why not pay right away?

they most likely did that because it sold for less than they wanted.

I can see both sides to the argument. sadly ebay has alienated one side hoping itll work. but it starts with consumers and sellers who are good natured and arent out to screw people over. Theyve built a interface with paypal that just breeds liars and cheats.

I remember ebay back in 1997 to 1999 right before paypal was getting started.. aka the days of the money order. Rarely would a envelope get lost, or a package from USPS. but now they are all of a sudden losing millions of packages. youd think the fraud wouldve been higher when we were dealing with simple non trackable money orders. Now with the paypal insurance/user policy in place, its continually being taken advatange of. paypal is breeding fraudsters

Oh man... there was this guy that had been selling new Xbox 360 games for 30 bucks BIN... almost too good to be true, right? So I check the feedback, and it's 100 percent with a whole bunch of transactions... I was like okay, not bad at all... so I decide to buy two games from this guy.... didn't get the games after several weeks... escalated up to paypal and the guy never replies... guy is kicked off ebay and paypal only gives me back 17 bucks back for each game...

turns out the guy had purchased a whole bunch of 1 cent auctions to skyrocket his feedback... and then as everyone paid for the games, he'd close the paypal account and walk away with everyone's money (a ton of people fell for this).

Man, first of all I'm pissed at paypal for not getting all my money back. Second, I'm pissed at the guy for screwing me and others like that.

After experiencing this, I sometimes ask myself why I even continue to use ebay/paypal... :/
