The last few days in our apartment have been horrible for ants. We are so careful not to leave open food around, I make sure all our recyclables are thourougly washed out, etc. We live on the first floor and originally we only saw them crawling along my son's bedroom window sill. I bought this raid Ant Killer stuff which I poured on the sill. By nighttime, it was like a black cloud. Hundred's and hundred's of them. By morning his window sill was empty. They had taken the poison back to their nest and presumably killed the colony.
2 days later they were back and moved even into our bedroom and onto our 2 window ledges. I finally had enough and the landlord came out and sprayed the grass and the walls and windows, etc outside our apartment.
One thing that did stop them was baby powder. I looked on the internet for safe things to use because I really don't like using chemicals in the house with a baby and 2 cats around. Talcum powder was mentioned quite frequently as a solution so I smothered my son's window sill with it and not a single ant has been seen in there since.
Last night and this morning my wife has had me moving the couches and beds around so she can vacuum everything.
ANyone else have ant troubles?
