Re: Is he trying to scam me somehow?

I remember once finding a site dedicated to stringing these guys along and setting them up with false meeting locations where police were waiting for them.

It was either police or damaged equipment - usually computers.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer

      SCAM! SCAM! SCAM!

About six months ago or so I had bought a wholesale lot of Cowboys jerseys off ebay at a good price and listed them on Craigslist to sell. Then I was contacted with a very similar e-mail requesting that I remove my listing and that they wanted to buy all of them. So they sent the money and then told me, while the money was in transit, that they overpayed me. Basically, I was going to sell five for $350 and they "accidentally" sent me $2500. They said they got the payments mixed up. Then they requested that I take my share and send the rest to this other person in some other state. So I told them they'd have to wait a while for me to deposit it.

Good thing I was broke as a joke so the money was sitting in my savings account yet I couldn't send it because the check hadn't cleared yet. Then I got a call saying that it was fraudulent and they had removed the money from my account. I told the people who sent it in the e-mail and they never e-mailed me back. I didn't send my jerseys either.

Anyway, what they wanted was me to withdraw MY OWN money and send it to this other person which is why they kept pestering me to do it immediately. Then the checks would be found fraud and i'd be out of $2000.
