Re: 9 to 5...is there such thing?

if I had to work eight hours at a desk for five days a week I'd go insane. I usually work 3-5 hours a day in the office for four days a week. The rest of the time I either work at home or in the field. Some weeks I work 80 hours, some weeks I work 20 but being salaried I still get a consistent paycheck.

I'm never in earlier than 9 and most days usually start around 11. Some days end at 3, some end at 1 am. I usually do some work on the weekends but it's OK with me because my job never really feels like work to me. There's not one day I wake up and dread going to work.

If you folks are working a crazy amount of hours, I'm surprised you guys haven't approached HR about it. Any company that is good to work for, will promote a healthy work/life balance.

Amen. Seems like more of the "lazy arses" like us are coming out of the woodwork now!!!!! LOL... kidding..............

I once worked 24 straight hours and I was consulting so it was hourly. It was at the request of my boss at the time. Needless to say it was 150 an hour I was seeing... no kidding. Bad thing.... they fired/cut my contract short after that paycheck. Pretty sure my boss got a good yelling at. That was my craziest hour story.... insanity. I'm still good friends with a couple of dudes that I spent that hell day with.

I do...although it's really supposed to be 9am to 6pm. But since we're all being laid off at the end of the year anyways, we all leave at 5pm exactly (inc. my manager). Also I rarely get in at 9am anymore (usually more like 9:15-9:30'ish). And I go to lunch from 12 to 1:30 or 2 each day. So yeah...

Construction... Asphalt paving side(Well Quality Control). Right now I usually run 50-60hrs but it has a pretty laid back summer, in past years i've done 70-80 easy. One time paving National airport back in the day, I worked like 32hrs straight, and we had planned on another shift but thank god for the rain!
