If my parents cats are in a friendly mood, they'll go up to one of the dogs thats laying down and they'll start licking/grooming their heads

I don't have a pic of my parent's dog Reese, but this is what she looks like..

She's a miniature Doberman. Every mannerism of a Doberman in a smaller frame.

I've seen it go both ways. I know people who's cats/dogs get along great, and I know people who's cats/dogs hate each other.

If you raise the two together, there probably wouldn't be an issue, but if you try to bring a cat into a dogs house, or a dog, into a cats house, you could run into issues.

We don't have any problems and ours will actually play with each other. The cat loves to be chased, so he'll sneak up on the dog when he's dozing somewhere & surprise him only to make a mad dash for his kitty-door leading to the basement. They'll also play fight at times which can be rather funny cause it looks like a sparring match (the cat is de-clawed).

I think Chaos is right on the money, as we had our cat for only a little under a year before we got the dog, so they've been together almost their whole lives. But when we take our dog to my in-laws, it can get rather ugly with their cat who is never arounds mutts...

although I did say I don't have any pets, both of my sisters do have dogs. One is a chow that I dont have any photos of. The other has a bulldog named Phoebe.

Its just called a drop shadow. Pretty simple effect, but as you can see, looks great.

Yeah I knew the drop-shadow, I thought he was talking about the effect actually within the image. It's not real obvious at first, but you'll notice the edges around the photo are a darkened a little, like a spotlight is in the middle. She does that in photoshop. The drop shadow is added on with a program that she uses to generate where they go on a webpage I believe.

She has a Canon Xti and a whole bunch of different lenses that I don't understand what the numbers mean LOL. But she changes out the lenses according to what type shot it is. I think her favorite lens is the Canon EF 24-70mm, but she has all kinds.

Oh, I see what effect you are talking about, its called vignette. Basically just what you said, darkens the edges and focuses the eyes on the middle. Nice little effect as well.

Meant to post a pic or two of my girl Smokey.
Pulled her out of a fire 12 years ago as a 4 week old pup. Never saw any other pups or older dogs in there(believe me...I searched for quite some time...then went back when I got off work and searched for 4 hours)
                        I've had her ever since.
Here she is after a day of swimming at the lake....hoping for a nap...but my grandson is blasting Spongebob Squarepants in the living room..
                        ..

He finally conks out and so does she....
                        ....

GREATEST DOG EVER(aren't they all?! )

3 dogs and 2 cats, the 2 cats and dogs pretty much grew up with each other. The puppy my sister has that hangs out here gets along with the younger cat and play together

The cats get annoyed with my hyper dog so they'll occasionally throw a flurry of paws and thats it

Very cute kitten, makes me want to get a cat again.
I've heard this "patience is a virtue" junk all my life. I'm happy to say I have no virtue, no scruples, and no desire to wait too long for anything. In my humble opinion instant gratification takes too long!
