Some places have juvenile diversions for persons under 18. The fact that you were going 30 over might knock you out of that. If it is your first ticket you should just go to court, talk to the judge when your case is called and explain your story. Or your could call your county prosecutor and check to see if there is something you can do like traffic school or some other program that will keep it off your record and your insurance.

The whole going to court thing and expecting the cop not to show up and therefore your ticket is magicially dismissed is NOT TRUE. It may work in larger cities, but in most places the prosecutors just call the cop and they come up there if someone is really protesting a ticket. They don't just get thrown out in most places.

Good luck, talk to your local prosecutor and see if they can help you out. It is worth a shot, it never hurts to ask.

No my ticket I can just pay the fine like normal. I wasn't pegged for endangering life or wreck less driving. Only going over the limit. This was probably because she tagged me right in between where it went from a 55 mph zone to a 70 mph zone on a freeway in the dead of night.

So I was told to go to court and get the free attorney and plead guilty and tell them it's my first offense. A few of my friends have done so and gotten it written off their driving record but payed the fine in full.

Actually I'm more worried about the driving record than anything, I don't want my insurance going up. It's a pretty manageable price right now.

Trust me on one thing, your insurance is going to sky rocket. The next renewal you get you'll see it.

You can see for yourself, go to whoever you have, do a quote for a new policy with the same vehicles/drivers that are on it now, and add the speeding for you with being 17 years old.

Always, always, always take speeding tickets to court if it isn't too difficult for you to get there. There's a very good chance that the officer won't show, which means you get off EVERYTHING - no suspension, no fine, no nothing.

But 30 over is crazy, I hope the officer would show up for that one
