Some places have juvenile diversions for persons under 18. The fact that you were going 30 over might knock you out of that. If it is your first ticket you should just go to court, talk to the judge when your case is called and explain your story. Or your could call your county prosecutor and check to see if there is something you can do like traffic school or some other program that will keep it off your record and your insurance.
The whole going to court thing and expecting the cop not to show up and therefore your ticket is magicially dismissed is NOT TRUE. It may work in larger cities, but in most places the prosecutors just call the cop and they come up there if someone is really protesting a ticket. They don't just get thrown out in most places.
