The last major American beer is no longer American

So Anheuser-Busch sells out to a Belgian brewing company, meaning the last major American beer is no longer American.
    Miller, you ask? South African.
Coors? Was part Canadian, part American until a merger with South African Miller.

I like to support local products, when I can. Global economy or not, I bought Bud religiously because it was the last major American brew. Bud Light, Miller Lite, Coors Light, it was all pretty much the same when I wanted something cheap and cold - except for where the money ended up.

Now, what do I buy? Even more midwest brews that I thought were American really aren't (thanks, wikipedia). PBR? Old Style? That's American! Actually, no, they're owned by Miller, which makes them South African.

From what I can see, Boston Beer is the next largest company that is still American. Sam Adams is a far cry from the easily binge-consumed light beers we're used to, but at least it's American.

So - what will you drink? Does it bother you that your money is now funding overseas corporations instead of local, American companies? I must say, America must really be for sale, because I never thought I'd see a company like Budweiser sell out. Sad.

It's on the expensive-ish side, but Sam Adams is still a great American beer.
