Berlin-Great if you're a WWII or Cold War history buff. Other than that, there's not a lot of other unique things to see. It's just another modern city.
Prague-Highly recommend visiting. It's pretty touristy, but the city is beautiful. It's expensive, but beer is cheap. The hotel we stayed at was outstanding.
Bratislava (Slovakia)-Very cheap (beers were less than $2 American). Small, but has a nice old town center. Very popular place for British Bachelor parties.
Munich-Much more traditional Bavarian city. Hofbrahaus is very touristy, but still a lot of fun. Dachau Concentration Camp was very interesting. The weather sucked (rained pretty much every day we were there.)
General comments:
The metro and train systems in these cities are excellent. Wish the US had more of it.
Having to pay to use a public restroom infuriates me. The wife says she doesn't care as long as it's clean, but I'd rather it be free.
All German beer pretty much tastes the same, except for the dark and wheat beers.
You can survive in the big cities with knowing very little of the language. I'm sure the countryside would be different.
I never thought I would say this, but I am sick of beer at this point. I don't think I ever drank so much over a 2 week period (except maybe 1 week of Spring Break in college).
