Anybody on Here Ever Been On A Blind Date?

    How did it go?
    Where did you go?
Do you still speak to them?

Re: Anybody on Here Ever Been On A Blind Date?

I was set up by my best friend (at the time) and him and his girlfriend went along first. I had never met the girl. The first one date went well enough, but it was much better when we were out doing our own thing together. The first date we went bowling, but we don't really "count" that. The real first date we went to a movie (Exorcism of Emily Rose) and then went out to Arby's for a quick bite to eat (I didn't know what else to do, but didn't want it to end). We talked there for about 2 hours until they closed.

We're still together over 2.5 years later. I think though it was very important that my best friend set me up at the time, and he was pretty much exactly like me (we actually got mistaken for brothers all the time). Had I been set up by another friend, that probably wouldn't have gone too far.

Re: Anybody on Here Ever Been On A Blind Date?

I went on one, it was my friend's girlfriend's friend and I was helping him out...God was that a mistake. Girl was like a offensive lineman, I wanted to kill my friend, especially when I was hesitant at first and his girlfriend was like "nah, she's cute"...Cute for a power lifter maybe, ugh. Unless I really really trust someone I'd avoid them now, or if I see a good picture or two.

I'm sure it can work out great, but it can also be kinda awkward when there's no chemistry whatsoever.

I've been on a couple that my friends had set up in the past. One of the girls I ended up dating for almost 2 years.

We met at a bar and ended up talkin all night, it actually worked out real nice...in the beginning.

Well, towards the end of the relationship she became really jealous and possesive and accused me of cheating in the middle of a party at a club and threw a tantrum. I tried to calm her but out of nowhere she straight up smacked me...needless to say that girl was kicked to the curb and I've never looked back or answered her phone calls.

You may have better luck though

So... did you cheat on her?

I may someday try the blind date thing, but I don't know how awkward it would be if she ends up being the one I marry and people ask, "So, how did you two meet?"

Went on one friend of a friend. We had a good time. It was classic dinner and a movie. That way we could talk and use the movie to think about all that was said. Then we when and had a couple of drinks. It was fun we dated for a couple of months, but I wasn't really trying to be in a relationship. We still talk but it's not like we are real close or anything. I'd give it a 8 on a scale of 1-10.

Man, I couldnt turn on the TV without being accused of checkin out women...that B!TCH was CRAZY!

In regards to feeling akward/embarrased about how you met, I dont get that all...whats akward about that.

If I look back at how I met some girls in my lifetime I just laugh...there are some hilarious stories and no matter how lame or drunk I was at the time its just funny how things can blossom from seemingly innocent encounters.

I was young, naive, and semi playing wingman for my friend....I've learned since then and would never fall for that trick lol

Or the "Myspace angle photo"...you know, the only angle that doesn't make her look like a huge woman? Usually holding the camera above her head at some angle looking down...

                    But no, no blind dates.

Re: Anybody on Here Ever Been On A Blind Date?

                      Yes. It sucked!

One of my football teammates in high school hooked me and another teammate up with some girls from Livonia, who were friends of this chick he was talking to. We got their numbers and set up a time to meet at the mall that weekend.

So we get there and we can't find the girls. I must tell you that we were looking for some pretty decent looking girls. The one told me she was short and thick and the other said she was tall slender, both trying to add the other little descriptions that would give you the idea they aren't mingers (Yeah I am thick, but I am not fat, I am athletic, people say I look like "insert your favorite r&b singer").

So anyway, after walking around for a few and apparently not seeing them, one calls my cell phone to ask where we are at. While I was about to tell them, I just happened to look up and see two beasts in those flannel jackets that were so popular back in the mid-nineties wandering around the front of Sears. One them was talking on a cellphone. I elbowed my boy Chicago and nodded my head toward their way while trying to come up with a good lie. We were just about to turn around when they turned around and spotted us. They knew us because I stupidly told them what I was going to be wearing.

The short and thick one was short and fat, plain simple. A truly round mound. Short hair full of beadie beads. Beady eyes underneath thick azz eyelids. To top it off, her two front teeth were AWOL. The other was not as bad, but still bad (5-6 shots and I'd probably hit). She was a little taller than me, SUPER skinny without a hint of curves and so black she had to but white gloves on to Oreos so she wouldn't bite her fingers off. Her lips were black as hell too. In fact, I could hardly tell where her lips began and her face skin ended.

So there we were, stuck in Fairlane Mall with absolutely no fear of any dude checking out our "girls". Actually, we weren't so much together as me and Chicago tried to walk away and they kept following us. We went to the pet store and tried to get an exchange. Finally we just were like, we had to go and they tried to hug us goodbye. We quickly parlayed those into friendly daps and went on our way. The teammate that set us up apologizd, but we still had to get him back in the bull ring the next week at practice.

They would call and leae messages on my phone afterwards, but finally got the hint after a couple of weeks when they realized I was not going to pick up that phone.
                      PS: You guys are great.

I just don't think going out with a blind person would be all that fun, unless they played the piano like Stevie Wonder or Ray Charles.

Yes but being blind can be beneficial if it's a guy. I mean he could grab his date's boobs with no problem because he could just use his blindness as a crutch.

Stevie Wonder is known for doing this a lot mostly as a joke.

I guess it's different when a friend is setting you up compared to maybe one of those online services, which I think would probably be more embarrassing/awkward. The only reason is because I think it sounds like at the time you were "desperate-seeking," but in your case I would say it's fine.

                            I guess it's just me.

I definitely wasnt talkin about dating services...I could never see myself having the need or the desire to do that.

I'm in a relationship right now and I met her through friends, thats usually how I meet girls, they're not blind dates by any means. Their are times when its just a random thing like meeting a girl in a bar or sayin hell with it and approachin girls at random, which has had some hilarious and humbling results.

In general I think the best way to meet girls is through friends. Going to bars just turns into a whole fiasco where you usually meet some drunk-a$$ girl or its a one night thing. I'm 26 now, I dont have time for most of the drama that comes from club-chicks.
