Facebooking athletes - Do you creep?

Well, maybe I wouldn't call it creeping, but have any of you ever tried to send a friend request to big named college athletes or professional players that you do not know?

I think it's personal because facebook isn't just like a myspace, but rather something a little more private. At least for some people.

Anyways, I have tried adding two athletes before. One was Tavaris Jackson (added him right when the Vikes drafted him; he accepted) and the other one was Kevin Durant who did not follow suit and denied me.

I never really try and do this because it feels kind of creepy in a sense, but I know people who do try.

Anyone else ever done this? If so, with who and did they accept?

When I was at school in Illinois a guy I know tried adding the entire team from 05 and they all denied him

I used to be Facebook friends with Branden Ore.

I removed his friendship before he was dismissed from VT.

I'm also friends with a few RU basketball players, but I know those players on campus.

Nah. I have a few guys off VTs football team that I know/have met that I've added but I don't usually. I remember that my roommate was acting so excited when Tyrod Taylor accepted his friend request when in reality he's never even spoken to the man. I've had a couple opportunities to talk to Taylor but I never did, never had a reason to.

I've added a couple of New England Revolution players, but I go to every home game + plus a few away games every year so I've at least met most of these guys.

Michigan has quite a few recruits and players active in recruiting groups in regards to discussions, etc...so I add them when I see them.

              Oh, and this...

                I've denied many requests.

I have my own "Fan Club" on facebook. I have no idea why this young couple took me as their favorite player and named their first born child after me.

The thing is...I am not kidding.

However...I need to say they are both very, very nice people and it is an honor. Just very unexpected.

                  I once poked Tyrone Moss.

Not Facebook, but I once beat UVA offensive tackle Eugene Monroe in an offline game of Madden 2006, does that count for anything?
