    The girl in the window

This story will tug at your heartstrings and it will seriously tick you off at the same time. As mad about this as I am at the mother, I don't understand how it took 3 years for someone down there to do something about it after the authorities were first made aware of the situation. It's rather long but an excellent read.

I have always heard that Florida's Department of Child Welfare was bad, but I didn't realize they were this bad. I have seen some disturbing stuff in my day involving children but this is by far the worst.

William was used to living like an only child, but since Dani has moved in, she gets most of their parents' attention. "She needs them more than me," he says simply.

For sure, gave up his bedroom and everything.

I have a ton of respect for that family for adopting her even though it'd be a lot more difficult than a normal child.

                    Great read. Interesting story.

Bless those adoptive parents for having the patience and willingness to raise Danielle. She's doing things no one ever thought she could and the one line about her adoptive parents not putting her in special classes because they believed she could do more is all you need to know why.

They pushed her to succeed and she's done amazingly well and I'm sure she'll continue to grow.

It's good to know that even with terrible parents out there, there is still hope in this world.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer

Those parents, and that kid William, are true heroes. Absolutely amazing stuff from such a disgusting situation.

Touching story, nice to see that there are still people out there willing to help others even though it may be extremely difficult to do so. William is wise beyond his years, smarter then some people who are twice his age and is about as giving as any kid Ive ever seen.

As for the biological Mother, she is disgusting and listening to her attempt to reason her way out of it is ridiculous. She claims that so much **** in an attempt to make herself look good that you cant help but want to throw her in jail and toss the key, just a pathetic, sorry excuse for a Mother.

Those are some truly great people.
I hope that little girl will continue to improve and grow(physically and emotionally).

First let me start off by saying that half way through the story I had to stop because I couldnt believe what I was reading.

But let me say the one thing this story does is bring a smile to my face knowing good people are still out there in this world.

Touching story that I will foward to all of my friends and family.

she's a complete idiot. Being apologetic and acknowledging your shortcomings would definitely do her some good perception wise. Trying to reason her way through everything just makes the hate for her grow stronger. She's despicable.
