On our first date, the young idiot I am, I took my GF to dinner. We ate "ćevapi u pljeskavici", it's a Croatian/Bosnian food, something like grilled meat patty in homemade "bread" with tons of onions.

Picked her up hoping to catch a good movie. All the good movies were sold out so we were forced to watch "Men In Black".
Despite that, our relationship actually succeeded. We've been together for over 16 years and married for over 12.

I know it sounds made-up, but I knew on our first date I would marry her.

I don't exactly remember our first real date, but I remember the first time I met my girlfriend.

I had come home from college that weekend to chill with my boy and he was having some people over, one of them was this new girl he had mentioned he'd been hanging out with. I get there and see these two girls who were over, and one of them immediately caught my eye. They went to the bathroom and I asked him if she was the girl he'd been talking about, he said no, and that was the green light.

Talked to her while we were all there having a good time, and everything was going cool. Well later, after everyone else had left, it had become clear she'd drank too much and she was getting the spins. She went outside and got sick, and she was out there a while so I went out to check on her and she was just sitting out in the rain with her head in her hands, too drunk, so I picked her up and carried her inside and laid her down on the couch. It's funny because she's really not that much of a drinker.

But it was pretty much a wrap from there. Started hanging out more and seeing each other, eventually made it official, and nearly two years later we're still going strong.
