Storing your Valuables
Where do you guys store your important paperwork and keepsakes? I'm contemplating putting the originals of my important paperwork in a safety deposit box at my bank and keeping copies at home, but I was also thinking of getting a small safe. What are your opinions on this important matter?Washington State University Cougars

Re: Storing your Valuables
If you get a safe, make sure it's bolted to something. No sense in having a safe, if someone can just come in and carry/wheel it away.
I know that might seem obvious, but I know people that had their houses broken into and lost stuff because their safe wasn't bolted down. -

I keep mine in the Smuggling Compartments of the Millenium Falcon.
But seriously a safe would work, and yes, make sure it's bolted down.Comment

Re: Storing your Valuables
I keep all my important documents in a saftey deposit box. Once I get into a more permanent residence (out of my apartment) I will get a safe and have that sucker bolted to the floor in my bedroom closet.I've heard this "patience is a virtue" junk all my life. I'm happy to say I have no virtue, no scruples, and no desire to wait too long for anything. In my humble opinion instant gratification takes too long!

And any postal workers, I'm not taking a shot at you when I say "lost in the mail."Comment
