3 years ago my wife and I lost our daughter due to doctor neglegance. Today we got a call from our lawyer that a settlement has been reached. We are recieving $6000000.00 Our Lawyer said we should be getting a check within the next 30 days. This has been a rough time for us a month after we lost our daughter we lost just about everything in Hurricane Katrina but our patience and prayer has payed off. We have been blessed with this oppurtunity. Though this could never take her place we have the comfort of knowing we will see her again one day and that this doctor knows that he will be held accountable for his actions.

Wow, that's a big suit... congrats.

Obviously nothing can make up for what happened, but I'm glad that the doctor got what was coming to him and that your family was helped in the process. Normally I hate how litigation-happy America is, but cases like this are a good reminder of why it's such an important part of our justice system... it's often the only way to get any kind of pennance for horrible mistakes/negligence like that. Best of luck to you, and enjoy the settlement -- sounds like you guys have been through enough without having to worry about money.

Although money cannot replace her being there, agreed it's still nice to know the doctor will be held accountable for his actions.

She was born that day she never actually took a breath. My wife was in labor and they sent us to the hospital and called the doctor and told him he should get there that there was a problem he instead stoped at subway and had lunch then went to the hospital by then it was to late.

did i read that right? 6 million dollars? all in one check? im so sorry for you loss but thats a hell of a lot of money. thats one good lawyer. ive heard of other negleiance cases where people only got a few grand. Was a jury involved in the process at all? thats just a crazy and sad event to have happen to anyone. with that sort of money though i would feel guilty as hell buying a new car or a new house, id almost have to create a fund or something and help others. no way id want to benefit off my lost child like that. tough situation though

Co-sign all the way. There is nothing more disheartening than what happened to you, but at the same time, there is nothing that makes a human happier than money (usually). Good luck with what you wish to do with the money.

Well I have 2 other kids both boys 5 and 2 and they are the most important thing to me and I am on disability so I dont feel guilty in providing a good home for them. And I am very religous so the way I look at things the Lord gives us blessins every day even in the worst tragedy he gives us a blessing. We lost our daughter but have a chance to provide our boys with stuff we could never have before. And I am going to be able to spend eternity with her. While the pain will always be there so will the blessings that the Lord has given to my family.
