Certified Excel Specialists?
I was just wondering how many of you guys have either tried taking the exam or taken the exam and passed? I just learned about this today in my accounting information systems class and thought it could be something to strive for to take over Christmas break.

Re: Certified Excel Specialists?
I've taken a College Class on MS Excel also. I never took the Certificate Accreditation test, but can handle my own when it comes to Excel.
I can't imagine it's that bad of a test, if you know your math skills. I'm guessing you do if you're going into accounting.
The worst program I ever had to learn was Access Databasing. I never really got a good grip on that program.

My instructor said she took it and had a little bit of trouble and she's been using it for 20 years. I figure I would give it a shot, but its definitely something I think will help me secure a job.

I like Excel...
If you think Excel is tough, try dealing with Access. It's a bitch.Comment

Re: Certified Excel Specialists?
Took a class on Access a little while back and got the hang of it rather quickly. Wasn't doing anything mind-blowing with it though.
I haven't taken a class on Excel, but to be honest I've used the program so much for various school assignments over time that I'm not sure I need it. I suppose if the certification were to help me out sometime during my professional life, I'd consider it though.Comment

Re: Certified Excel Specialists?
I took a class in college (can't remember the name of class) and we had to learn Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Access. The prof made us go on to Brainbench.com and get certified in each program. The tests were tough but luckily excel was my best program so I passed that one with no problem. It's a great program to know because I think a lot of companies use the program to distribute reports. My company sends all of our sales, comps, movement reports, blah blah blah, in excel form and it just makes it easy when trying to make sense of the numbers.
My suggestion, get certified, what can it hurt?
Life is a sport, so play hard!

Re: Certified Excel Specialists?
I'm not certified, but *** **** if I'm not an Excel Specialist. I spend 8 hours a day using and manipuliting spreadsheets. I'm curious to know what this exam covers. Any links to any sample questions?Comment
