Del. Police: Pair charged with endangering child
LAUREL, Del. (AP) State police say a woman and man from Laurel have been charged with endangering the woman's two-year-old son after they were seen in a moving pickup truck with the boy hanging from the ball hitch.
A witness told police that the boy would hold on to the truck hitch while 24-year-old Christopher Swank accelerated and then the boy would fall onto the gravel driveway. The boy's mother, 20-year-old Ashley Bell, was a passenger in the car.
After seeing the child with injuries, police say the witness contacted the Division of Family Services.
Police say Bell and Swank are charged with reckless endangering. Bell faces six counts and Swan faces one. Both were being held on bond on Friday at Sussex Correctional Center.
The boy was placed in the custody of his father.
