That's a cheap shot, we don't facilitate the end of a marriage for money, we simply help people put an end to a relationship they never should have entered in the first place.

unfortunately most state laws translate that into "give the ***** money she didnt deserve in the 1st place.

This website is intended for abuse. It doesn't just promote affairs, it encourages it, and sets them up for you. You can't compare McDonald's and Jack Daniels to this, that's absolutely ridiculous.

I don't think it's ridiculous at all. I'm not comparing the ads for those companies to ashleymadison.com. I'm saying that it's a behavioral issue. People sue McDonalds for being overweight, what is McDonalds supposed to do then? Stop advertising? They merely provide a service. That's what this web site does. I'm saying even if the site didn't exist, the majority of these people would still be adulterers. People generally are going to do what they want to do.

So you're saying that you wouldn't think it would be wrong to have a website encourage and promote domestic abuse or murder? They are behavioral issues as well. Although, with comparing those two to adultery, the physical aspect isn't the same, but there is just as much emotional ramifications.

Isn't adultry technically illegal in all 50 states. If you can "guarantee" adultry. Why can't a crack dealer come out an advertise and "guarantee" to get you high?

Just want to point out that domestic abuse and murder are illegal in the eyes of the law and punishable with consequences.

Adultery, albeit not very moral, is not illegal.

True. But adultery is still illegal in California I believe. That's why the comparsion is a stretch. I was just stating that encouraging someone to ruin their marriage and family is flat out wrong. A murderer doesn't only take the life of a the victim, he/she damages the lives of many others. An adulterer doesn't only harm his/her marriage and family, it affects the families of those involved.

I think you're comparing two very, very different things there.

Like Pared said, adultery is immoral, not illegal. I don't agree with the web site myself nor would I ever consider using it but I don't think they have any less of a right to advertise than companies like Budweiser and FullTiltPoker.net do.

I'm pretty sure it is illegal in all 50 states. It is grounds to terminate the contract of marriage. In fact in states like Wisconsin, where they actually try to find % of fault in divorce cases, you stand to lose everything if you commit adultry.

yeah I was wrong on that one.

I still don't think it's wrong for them to advertise. Natural Light tells consumers to "please drink responsibly" knowing full well that approximately 99.9% of it's customers will fail to do so. FullTiltPoker.net says "this is not a gambling web site" but there is a section of the web site where you can play using actual money. I don't see how this is any different.
