    OS unemployed job hunt help...

    http://www.operationsports.com/forum...lly-sucks.html

This piggy backs off of the Being unemployed sucks thread, I thought it would be a great idea for us unemployed OS'ers to help each other find Jobs ( thats if you dont mind relocating ). Put on this thread what your profession is and we can help if you belong to hotjobs, Monster, etc...about jobs that might match for you in that posters city. So I guess Ill get it started.. I am a Production Supervisor in the automotive industry, I wouldnt mind switching from Automotive to anything else and I dont mind relocating.

This thread is a great idea!

I know a lot of the guys on here will have no problems at least answering questions about their profession and offering career help/advice.

I wish you the best of luck, Im not sure how many are going to help others find jobs when they cant find them for themselves but Im sure someone will. Im at the point where relocating anywhere isnt a problem but nearly all of my working experience is retail related and therefor I doubt anyone would have a need for that since they can get it from their own home state anyways.

I dont expect anyone to specifically look for me but in the job hunting process you come across different jobs, if someone here says they are looking for a job and in my hunting i come across that particular job I or we can put it up here. Every bit helps

No problem, Im not trying to rain on your parade, just wondering if people will actually do that. I do a lot of my searching on craigs list actually, Career Builder/Monster/Hot Jobs all seem to be bogged down anymore with nothing but work at home jobs or things I have no shot at getting. Again, best of luck, someone has to break through here and actually get a job eventually.

If you are under 30 and dont mind relocating. The FAA is in great need for Air Traffic Controllers. If you need any info/questions/help just pm me. I am currently going through the hiring process (it is very drawn out) and have family members who do it currently.

I will be willing to help anyway I can. I am a testament of Careerbuilder.
Anybody who doesn't have a resume I highly encourage you to create one. Many sites have templates you can use. Also here is a link for key words to implement into your resume as some places will just look over and if they view a few key words will look further into your resume.

Re: OS unemployed job hunt help...

Good idea here. I've had a few multi-month unemployed stretches (usually resulting in a big jump in my OS post count) and it goes without saying that it sucks. I would suggest that anyone looking for a new job or interested in changing their career path read What Color is my Parachute? by Richard Nelson Bolles (click on title for link to its Amazon.com page).

Not only is it an informative & practical guide for job-hunters with tips on how to look for jobs, write resumes and succeed in interviews, there is also an overarching theme of discovering what it is that you really want to do. To get the most benefit from that part there are activities you'll have to do, but if done faithfully, you should have a much better idea of what type of career/field you would most enjoy.

I read the book and did the activities several years ago after being out of college for about two years. I graduated with a BA in History (didn't exactly have people beating down my door obviously) and had no clue what I wanted to do. I bounced from menial job to job (waiter, flower delivery, beer guy, etc) before reading the book and really putting some thought into what it is I want out of my professional life. I discovered that my desire to help people, strong verbal/communication skills and disdain for the business world made the social services field an ideal fit.

Since then I've had a few jobs in education that weren't quite right for me, but I'm finally in a position that I'd like to stay with for the foreseeable future. I'm a student advisor for a non-profit adult education training center. I work with mostly with adult GED students, but we also provide refresher classes for those who want/need to improve their math & reading skills. If you're really bored, you can check out our website -- www.bidwell-training.org -- although I doubt that it's as much fun as OS...

Anyways, I highly recommend the book to anyone, especially those that are job-searching. It's not just my opinion either; it's pretty much regarding as the best of its kind...

PS - No, I'm not the author!

I heard it's highly stressful, which probably explains why I recall some people claiming they've heard it has the highest occupational suicide rates.

If anyone knows of any video editing jobs or motion design jobs in either Northern Colorado, Boulder, Fort Collins, Denver or Colorado Springs let me know. I have been out of work since July 30 because my wife wanted to move back near family and now we are struggling to find anything. I would actually look more places than this but this is where we currently near. We are actually in Laramie, WY right now but the goal was for Colorado.

Didn't expect the entire universe to collapse like this or for my wife to have this much trouble. Me, I lost my job after 9/11 and was out of work for 7 months so I knew it would be tough for me but she is a vet and is having trouble finding anything worth taking.

Hint to anyone wanting to move to Colorado. The pay is suppressed and what jobs there are the competition is intense because so many people want to come here.

Anwyay, if anyone knows of or see anything PM me please. Or just check out my website for the hell of it and let me know what you think. It's www.hollandedit.com.

                        Thanks all.

Process Servers Directory- Find Process Servers- UnitedStatesProcessServing.com

Company is hiring process servers. It says it would like you to have a background in Law Enforcement, although I would doubt that's really the case. It could be some good part time work and appears to be national.
