So tell me about DeVry
What can you tell me? I just got off the phone w/an admissions advisor. Looking to get a degree in something else.Originally posted by VP Richard M. NixonI always remember that whatever I have done in the past, or may do in the future, Duke University is responsible one way or the other.

Nothing. Never finished college. I'm looking into getting some training in computer repair w/the goal of opening up my own shop.Originally posted by VP Richard M. Re: So tell me about DeVry
I've heard DeVry is vastly overrated. Some people mention ITT Tech, but all I know of them is the ads on TV about someone who's down and out, goes to ITT Tech, and lives the life of Riley.Comment

Its very expensive. I'd watch out for these guys, they get you on the hook for huge student loans.Chalepa Ta Kala.....Comment

Re: So tell me about DeVry
That'd be nice. If they offered anything I'm interested in.
And I'm not interested in loans. I'm seeing what I can get out of grants & my own pocket. If I can't afford it, I'll look elsewhere. I stay out of debt as much as possible.Originally posted by VP Richard M. Re: So tell me about DeVry
I know about 20 + people that have gone to Devry, including my brother and myself. They are expensive but they all have very good jobs. My friend who just got a 2 year associates is now making 70k, not bad (he had a c average the whole time too.) I went there only for 2 semester because it was way too much for me without having loans. My experience is only through Phoenix.
They teach a lot of hands on and you basically go to class with the same group of people from the beginning. Very similar to real world where you work with the same people day in and out. A lot of projects and real world stuff.
The professors are top notch, most of them are not full time professors rather people who are in the industry already and are doing well. I work at Godaddy.com and quite a few programmers and network engineers graduated from Devry as well.
It's a trimester so no summer breaks, I think its about 3 weeks off at most. It's a marathon but I think its worth it for what the results are.Comment

Re: So tell me about DeVry
JD, you may not be looking for this route, but might I suggest Clinical Research. I work for one of the largest CROs out there, headquartered in RTP, and the field for Clinical Research Associates is growing. So much so that I'm seriously considering leaving the legal side and taking an associate's course in CTRA at Durham Tech, which the company is gonna pay for. As an in-state student, you'd only have to worry about a little over three grand, while Devry or ITT Tech would have you on the hook for at least 8 times that (I'm guessing).Comment

Re: So tell me about DeVry
The ITT Tech ads really make me laugh... Dude is down and out, then they show him riding a motorcycle, or driving an RV with his family, jet-skiing, living the high life, all thanks to ITT Tech.Comment
