Give him a while to straighten himself out and with one more incident then let the hammer down. But give him a while.
So you agree most pyschos start with animals then move on to humans, but he's only seven.
Well, isn't that the possible start???? He's seven, possible a pyscho, and started with animals?

You value human life over animal. The animals are dead, killed, beaten until dead, repeatedly beaten. He's alive, so I don't get that. Or are you just saying, if he kills animals again, THEN do something. Sorry having seen men kill their dogs with a machete because they were "barking to much" and seeing kids throw cats into fires just for "the fun of it", I'm gonna side with the law that says it's a felony to do so.

Sure, he can straighten himself out, with court supervision and a short leash. That includes a short leash on his parents (and I'm not trying to judge the parents as they may even know the kids has a problem). But, again, this was not a normal "kid does dumb thing, thing".
    Seventeen animals brutally killed.

Curious. What would you do with him? A spank on the butt (woops, sorry can't go there these days), or just a stern talking to and "now go play".

Well if everything was stacked up right I'd get him a VERY GOOD shrink. But first thing is to check his parents. If they aren't that great then put him up for adoption and find a long term commited, responsible, loving parent. That would probably work him wonders. I think that we're past spanking and talking to with this situation. This kid needs A LOT more than that.

As far as the killing animals again then I think he needs to go on a house arrest of sorts with his newly found good parents and shrink if possible and monitered. If he is still acting odd then we might have to go the he is a psycho and get him out of society route. Really no one knows exactly what's wrong with him and chances are no one ever will. I would just always prefer giving someone a chance to succeed even if it's a 99.9% chance that they don't and let them have a good life. But like I said earlier, one more incident and he's done.

Well under the genius design of Australian law, he can get away with murder (literally) until he turns 10 years old. I am sorry, but 99% of the time a sociopath is born a sociopath and this kid isn't old enough to fall into that other 1% yet. This isn't necessarily on the parents, this kid is simply demon spawn. Well I suppose one of his parents could in fact be a demon, but either way this kid is pure evil and sooner he stops breathing the better for the people in Australia.

Well like I said if he has another incident with animals or humans I'd try to find a way to shell him. But I'd think that this issue has something to do with the parents. It usually does. Good parents can work wonders on people.

And when you have a sociopath, even the world's greatest parents can't do a thing to prevent the future atrocities they will commit. I for one can't sit back and play wait and see with a kid this demented.

It's not definate that he's a sociopath yet. And if he is it's DEFINATLY not definate that he can't be saved.

So when he kills again, not if, but when, what do we tell the owners of the animals or god forbid the parents of the child? Our bad, sure he killed 17 animals when he was 7 but well he deserved a chance to prove that was just a really big misunderstanding.

It is an if and not a when. Moniter him and have parents that will watch him.

The rest of society, the innocent, have to be protected. I don't care if he's seven. Do what they have to do, but it better be good.

As far as good parents. Totally depends, but that's not the issue here.

All I know, hypothetical, if you were in his family and had a three year old daughter, I think you'd be thinking twice before letting that little girl anywhere near this kid.

No I'd just watch the kid at all times and get anything that he can kill her with away from him. It is possible to intercept a 7 year old. I'll just end it with this. You don't agree with me and chances are you never well and it works that same way the other way around so lets just agree to disagree on this one.

It ain't just me who disagrees with you, lol.

I'm certainly glad though that there are civil courts where people can take action against adults who decide to just watch their seven year old after cases like this. Like you said, first an animal, then a human. I would take every penny a parent has if they didn't do everything possible (beside watching him) to insure this doesn't happen again if my little daughter got killed by this kid.

                          Good luck with that.

                          Later.

Yeah I know. It usually is multiple people who disagree with my views in things They usually prove me wrong but when I'm right it makes me confident that humanity is still alive.

This kid need to get some serious phsycological help. Hopefully he will grow out of his killing ways.

I'm glad I don't live in Australia though.
