Syberia is a video game. Siberia is what you're thinking of.

Get it's DNA and put that into an elephant.

...and in a related story, I read where turtles with wings were found in the Mushroom Kingdom.

While this is pretty cool, I don't see the point of bringing the species back to life, or even trying to. Maybe one or two for an exhibit somewhere, but not a whole freaking group.

If it were something more esoteric like dinosaurs i'd agree with you. Actually, there are some scientists that propose dinosaurs can be brought back to life through implanting DNA into chickens and roosters!

The elephant and mammoth are so closely related physically and i'm sure genetically that doing this would be a pretty good idea.

Looks like a regular elephant to me. I thought there was one species of Mammoth - that had long hair and big tusks.

Kind of old news. Cool anyway though.

That brings up another question... would you want scientist to start bringing back animals from the past if they found their DNA and could clone them?

Mammoths, sure, T-Rex's... not a chance in hell.
