Alt. Country
Hayes Carll - great throw-back country stuff. I recommend his most recent album Trouble in Mind. She Left Me For Jesus is an instant classic song.
Ryan Bingham - His debut album is superb. His vocals remind me a bit of John Fogerty in that weary, travelin' man kind of way. Awesome stuff.
Hank III - he just put out a new album. Its pretty good - mixes punk and some metal influences throughout the album (moreso on the second half, though). His second album, Lovesick Broke & Driftin' is a classic.
Ryan Adams - Heartbreaker is a must own for anybody getting into alt. country
Folk
I'm definitely not an "expert" here, but I really love Joan Baez's vocals. Woody Guthrie is a must, as is Pete Seeger. Then of course Dylan, but I guess that's pretty obvious.
Alt. rock could be anything.

wow nice bump.
Also, check out the Avett Bros. They're folk-rock, just saw them live and it was awesome"You can not ensure success, but you can deserve it." - John Quincy Adams

Re: Need Some New Music: Preferrably Folk, Alt Rock, Post-grunge
New Weezer dropped yesterday..it's a decent listen, but don't expect early 90's Weezer, this is much more sing-a-long, poppy stuff.
Also, I can't say enough about Vampire Weekend's album.Comment
