70 sunny and windy here. Much better than Tuesday night, when there were 3 tornadoes within 45 minutes of my house.

It's a mild 30 degrees today, a good amount of snow melted even though it was cloudy all day.
Overall not a bad way to start March.

Blah.......we ended up with a foot last night, very high winds lasted throughout the night, 100s of trees are down everywhere, visibility is pretty bad, lightly snowing right now. Just glad the wind has passed.

Going from 82 to 36 in about 36 hours is probably not very healthy. And apparently the sun is expected to cry tomorrow.

This has been a strange day. Schools closed early, some businesses closed early, lots of places cancelled activities tonight. It's all been for a threat of bad thunderstorms. Turns out some tornadoes have spawned in the area. But still, I've never heard of schools and businesses (including mine) closing early because of thunderstorms. I wonder how normal this will become.

****. When I went to school, they NEVER canceled school. For anything. I can think 2 snow days we got off out of 12 years of school. I always had to brave the weather.

They don't mess around in the mid-west. I've been working in Indy for a while and any time there is a warning, you have to go to the tornado shelter. The company has a bunch of them throughout the buildings.

Man, my heart just goes out to everyone involved in these tornadoes. I've been right here in the center of it all. I'm in Madison, In, and there's just destruction all around us. I'm feeling blessed we didn't get hit, it could have just as easily been us.

I remember getting out of school early a few times due to forecast severe storms and tornadoes. They were some of the better days of my childhood. Got off school early and I got to watch the weather.

The weather we've had today seems more like what they had forecasted for the blizzard that didn't happen earlier in the week.

It's been snowing and blowing all day, the ND DOT issued a travel advisory as the roads are awful and visibility is very low. I've heard from a number of friends that there's numerous accidents all over the city and with the way Friday night traffic is, I'm not surprised.

It's a good night to just stay in.

High in the mid 60's today. Thunderstorm apparently passing through now as I just saw some lightning.

Out of nowhere, we're getting a half foot of snow tonight. Making up for lost ground I see.

My post yesterday was done prior to knowing the destruction multiple tornadoes caused so near to where I live. Blame ignorance at the time. I echo your sentiments. Glad you're okay too. I know some of your neighbors in Madison, as well as further north in Indiana, weren't as lucky. I've seen lots of pictures of what happened to folks in Piner, Crittenden, and Walton, KY, which are all about 20 miles south of where I am. Feel very fortunate nothing happened this far north in Kenton County.

I hear you but this was a first for me. I've been at work, which is about 2 miles from my house, when we've had bad thunderstorms but they never let us leave early like that because of the threat. I don't recall ever being let out of school early for anything like this and I've lived here my whole life. The only thing I've noticed, and maybe it's just mind games, is over the last few years or so the really powerful, tornado-spawning thunderstorms have increased in frequency. We have plenty of bad storms throughout the year but it seems like there are more really, really bad ones lately. We can debate, not necessarily here, on why that is. I really don't know.
