Re: So what's the weather like where you live?

We get this really weird pattern of thunderstorms out here around this time of year. When I moved to Colorado I spent my first three summers back home in San Diego so I have only really started noticing it the last two years as I have not been able to vacation like I used to.

It sucks because my dog gets super freaked out by thunder and it seems like there can be weeks on end where we get some every day

The heat dome has found us. Been in the 90s for the past few weeks, and we might be touching 100 this weekend. And humid as ****, of course.

It's been 95-100 with 110+ heat index since Wednesday here. Goes away tomorrow and is back below 90 the rest of the month.

Tornadoes. That pretty much sums it up. 41 reports so far of tornadoes between my area in NW Ohio and northern Indiana.

My city lucked out, we had a huge tornado just pass to the north of the city proper.

Rainy ahead of 99L/Hermine. Tracks are all over the place, haven't had a hurricane here since 05.

This storm is ridiculous. Now out in the Gulf as a Tropical Depression and soon to be Tropical Storm. I thought we had lucked out at first with it moving a little further south than they thought, but now they're saying it's supposed to turn and come back to Florida. Great.

Yep, they had to quickly bump Thursday's NFL game in Tampa up to tomorrow because of this storm, trying to squeeze it in before the worst of the storm hits on Thursday. I think the turn back to Florida caught some by surprise.

Re: So what's the weather like where you live?

Also, just an update on last Wednesday, 14 confirmed tornadoes in the storms that hit my area. 1 EF3, 2 EF2s, 3 EF1s and 8 EF0s. The tornado that just skirted north of my town was rated an EF2 with winds of 125 MPH.

I'll live happily never seeing a night like that again, hearing report after report of tornadoes approaching from the southwest, yet not being 100% certain where exactly they are or where exactly they're going, whether they're gonna miss you to the north or whether you might be standing in a whole house for a final few minutes.

That was a tense hour last week, waiting for the storms and tornadoes to approach from Indiana and the county our south, and waiting to see just how far north the storm would carry and just how far west it would stay before reaching our town.

Then we had to go through it all over again 3 hours later when another storm came from the west with reports of tornadoes touching down in the western half the county, except this time heading straight due east right at us. Thankfully nothing came from that storm around here.

Yeah, it was a crazy night. And there was never any previous mention that it might happen! At noon, they were only talking maybe some pop up showers, maybe a couple storms, with the biggest risk being heavy downpours, then all hell started breaking loose later in the afternoon in Indiana and didn't stop until after 10pm. Thursday was supposed to be the day they were talking a risk of severe storms. And naturally, we ended up getting absolutely nothing Thursday, lol.

And we really never even got much rain out of those storms. Around here in NW Ohio, most of our storms seem to be high precipitation storms with heavy downpours of rain, some so heavy that uou can barely see the houses just across the street from you at times. Instead that night, they were all low precip storms, similar to what you generally see from the storms in Oklahoma and Texas, when you see all those pictures of clean, unobstructed photogenic tornadoes. So it led to a ton of pictures and videos showing up online of the various tornadoes, taken anywhere from as little as a couple hundred yards to as many as 5+ miles away.

So yeah, I'm good on tornadoes for a good long while! You guys who love in the plains and tornado alley, you can keep them! I'll happily stick to shoveling snow every couple days in the winter as the worst I have to deal with.

                            First day of fall....
I don't mind fall weather, until after Halloween, just like I don't mind winter weather, until after new year's. After that, then it just sucks and is almost 2 months of colder weather with no special events/holidays. Last few days now of summer weather!

And weather stations saying this winter is projected to be real snowy and cold! I liked last year's so much better when I could wear short sleeves indoors on Christmas morning.

Thank goodness the 90+ degree days are over in this area.

Didn't think it would ever end.

I don't mind the heat as much as I do the humidity. The heat you can adjust to, the humidity just makes it unnecessarily hotter and stuffier. It could be 30C(86F) and feel like that temperature and it won't be as bad as if it were 25C(77F) feeling like 30C(86F).

Worst thing is ending up in a public location without AC during those hot days. Everyone is hot/sweating and eventually starts to smell, and of course, the "hot heads" become both a figurative and literal term with people getting cranky.
