One day we'll be able to explain weather reports...

Another day of them predicting huge amounts of rain, and it not happening. I get weather changes every minute, and it probably was raining somewhere, but how can they get it wrong this often? And not just that, but even reports the day of, and worse, weather radars, say it's going to rain everywhere for certain hours of the day, so if it's 11am and the reports AND radars say from 12:30 until the evening it'll rain, and it never happens, where are these reports and radars coming from?

Are your meteorologists consistently that far off? Over here there you get the occasional day where a forecast of a chance of rain or how sunny it'll be ends up off the mark, but it's mostly solid.

We do have one guy who cites the "European models" (I don't follow weather enough to know how they differ from ours) and it's always on the high end of whatever precipitation others are forecasting. I suspect he's doing it during storms as a "better safe than sorry" thing for viewers so I can't totally hate on it, but I disregard his info for that reason too.

Or maybe yours just want to play some golf.

Hurricane Danielle passed through here and took Summer with her, while leaving some flooding damage AND the loudest single thunder I've ever experienced in my life! A single sharp thunder, like a gun going off right next to your ear x 100. It was heard 10km away!

Going to be in the low-mid 90's the next 3 days, then on Thursday, first day of fall, temp is only going to be in the mid-70s

Like someone is flipping off the switch for summer and turning on the one for fall

It's been so lovely, the last ten days it's been between 72-85, next 5 days looks like 67-81, then next Monday it's supposed to be 87 with a low of 39 so that'll be interesting, lol.

Looks like it's finally a TD. I'm on the east coast but looks like it's determined to hit Florida one way or another. Going to probably have to put shutters up for the first time in a while. Stay safe fellow Florida bros.

Just keep watching. From a historical point the models move west as time passes. Right now the models are all over the place.

I mean, this is Cantore's Super Bowl...of course, he shrugged that tree branch off like it was nothing.

Things seem stable enough now that Ian has pulled NE. Lotta rain, decent bit of wind last night that I was sure was going to take off one of my awnings. Aside from some minor water damage and a tree tipping over on its side, we did ok here in my area.

What I had was nothing compared to what others got on the West Coast. Judging by what the local news was showing last night since I couldn't sleep through the wind, damn. Had family that were able to get out a day before and went east. Hope other Florida posters are safe.

This storm was crazy from a model and forecast standpoint. They couldn't figure out where it was going as everything that normally happens ended up not happening.

In NE FL we ended up with a noreaster that pushed the storm away. Some family is South FL had water in their house and the ones who didn't have no power.

As they start to rebuild, I hope these areas change some of their local laws to force developers to put some protection in. Building on sand bars, in front of dunes, etc shouldn't happen. The newer homes meet the codes for cat 3 or 4, some for storm surge, etc but it only does so much when the ocean is now on the land.

The sad thing is a lot of people don't have flood insurance in Florida. Either due to cost or thinking they're in areas that won't get hit. So by the time you get insurance money it's a fraction.
