Go to your local human society and rescue a dog from being killed. They have puppies and they will be able to help you out what you are looking for.

Have to agree. All three of our pets are rescued.

I know this is going to sound ridiculous but it is true. Female rottweillers are great with kids and very protective. If you get one when they are puppies and the dog is socialized with the kids they will be great friends. As I mentioned the rott will be very protective of you and the kids as well.

The best!....save a dog ......I wish I could take them all in.
funkychicken......Rotties are extremely friendly and loyal dogs. Big mushes until you try and mess with their "pack"(your family included)
It's been said a lot....I don't believe that any breed of dog is inherently vicious. Yes, some can be more aggressive in their nature, but if you treat and train a dog properly, they will all be loving and protective of you.

Definitely. We've had plenty of animals (cats, dogs) in this house and the majority of them have come from the humane society and they have all been very friendly. It is rewarding to know that you saved a dog's life that should have never been in that situation in the first place.

I was at my parents house and the 15lb Boston Terrier sure scared the UPS guy and all she did was walk outside and look at him. Normally she likes to smell, lick, and play with new people, but she just stood there. The guy made me pick her up before he would put the package down, I would have laughed but I wanted the package.

Get a Doberman. They don't shed as much as most dogs. They're easy to train and VERY smart. Very loyal too.

Same! Thought I'd never see another person with a golden doodle. Mine is about 4 years old now, cutest dog I've ever seen. Very playful but barks a lot at intruders into the house but that's more just her nature than it is the dogs. Doesn't shed at all.

This is so true. I have a rott mix and he is a big baby with me and my dad. He tries to climb in my lap like he is a little ankle biter dog. One day one of my buddies was over and we went in my backyard (mind you my dog was in his outside pen). When he saw my buddy standing next to me he went nuts. I know if he ever got a hold of somebody he would do some damage.

Those vids are great aukevin. Those videos bring up memories of dogs I've had in the past.

Steve when I was a baby my family had a miniature female poodle. That dog was very protective of our family, but loved me to death.

Very smart dogs, and never ever lashed out at me as a kid, even though I'm probably sure she should have a couple of times.

                                Very loyal dogs...

And they don't shed that much either, as I'm sure you know.
