Re: BB.com Suicide
That's really sad, they made a thread basically saying it was true and the whole first page is just people debating on whether or not people go to heaven if they commit suicide. I know one site I'll remember to never visit again.Fan of....

Re: BB.com Suicide
I just looked up news stories on this as well. Looks like Justin.TV (which already has a bit of a shady thing going on what with piracy) is also affected.
Updated at 6 p.m. PST: Adds comment from Michael Seibel, CEO of Justin.tv.
A 19-year-old man has committed suicide while broadcasting himself on Justin.tv, according to a report at NewTeeVee.
The teenager took an overdose of pills while on camera and was apparently encouraged to do so by commentators on Justin.tv and a bodybuilding site, according to the report.
Justin.tv enables users to broadcast video live to the Internet. NewTeeVee said it confirmed the man's death with the Broward County medical examiner's office, which is near Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. This will undoubtedly raise questions about the power of Web video and whether its voyeuristic nature can go too far.
The young man apparently posted threats of killing himself to Web message boards in the past, according to numerous online reports. Because of this many of those who watched the man's suicide were skeptical that it was a legitimate suicide attempt and began mocking him.
Some viewers did take him seriously and contacted the Broward County Sheriff's Department. It appears that deputies broke into the man's room and discovered his body.
In response to the tragedy, Michael Seibel, CEO of Justin.tv, issued this statement to CNET News:
"We regret that this has occurred and respect the privacy of the broadcaster and his family during this time. We have policies in place to discourage the distribution of distressing content and our community monitors the site accordingly. This content was flagged by our community, reviewed, and removed according to our Terms of Service."

Re: BB.com Suicide
i am a big believer of "everyone makes their own decisions". And I hate people who make dumb excuses to escape their own "*******" moments...
but anyone who egged this kid on or encouraged him in any way really need to evalutate how they live their life...i really don't think anyone said something to this kid that pushed him over the edge, but anyone who did so should be required to go under some sort of mental evaluation...
i do not belong to that site but after reading some of the threads there it seems about 70% of the people that belong there are in need of a serious role model or something...(not to disrespect anyone who belongs to this site as well as that one).
This entire incident is sad, and it is more sad that some people could make the entire human race look so insensible...
a few people brought up the question of what if that happened here? i don't post a lot here but the reason this is the only forum i come to is because this is the ONLY site i have gone to with a majority of MATURE adults...while no one here could prevent a user from doing what he did, there is absolutely no way this site would turn into the circus that occured over there...
all we can do is hope that something like this never happens again...Comment

Re: BB.com Suicide
I have been a member of BB.com since 2005 and often go to the Misc. for entertainment.
That Candy Junkie dude was a real cool guy, but i never realized how mentally unstable he was.
His best topic by far: was his attempt to catch a huge monitor lizard that roamed his neighborhood, classic thread.

Re: BB.com Suicide
Just gonna chime in here on a couple of things:
- First off, looking at the statistics, one would probably say that OS probably isn't a very close, caring group. But from personal experience, there are a lot of caring people around here. I came right out and talked about my depression and stuff and there was an outpouring of support from various members through replies, PMs, and IMs. I have no dobt that if something happened to someone on this board that there would be at least be a few dozen people that would try to do something to help, even in the littlest of ways.
- Secondly, I'm going to start this with a disclaimer: I am fine and feeling well. However, I have an inkling of an understanding of the pain the guy was going through. Sometimes it gets to be way too much to handle. And I do feel bad for the guy and wish he had not done what he did. With that said, what a greedy SOB. One of the worst, greediest, self-important things a person can do is draw attention to your suicide (or attempts at it). It just makes everyone else hurt so much more. That's why I despise this one girl I used to be friends with because she would cut, but not in the "proper way" and had gotten so used to doing it that she always knew she would be safe (not to mention the fact she faked having leukemia). I feel bad for people who go out this way, but I have very little respect for themComment

Re: BB.com Suicide
Something I thought about while reading that article. Could the Sheriff's Office get in trouble for responding so late.? I read that one of the guys on that site called the Miami-Dade PD and they gave him another number to call and then he called that number and they told that person that they would check it out. But then I also read that it wasn't until a few more people called the Police also and they would show up 25 minutes AFTER the initial first phone call.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: BB.com Suicide
By the time anyone started calling he had been dead for a few hours.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment
