    MLA Citation(help out an OSer)

I am writing an essay on why there should be a college football playoff.

I have to cite my sources in MLA format, everywhere I have looked and each generator I have used has come up with one little thing different.

Fowler, Scott. "College football is screaming for a playoff." Charlotte Observer, The (NC) (03 Dec. 2007). Newspaper Source. EBSCO. Trinity Valley, Terrell, TX. 18 Nov. 2008 <http://search.ebscohost.com.proxy.tv...rue&db=nfh&AN= 2W62W63142053977&site=ehost-live>.

England, Natalie. "UT coach was first to stump for team." San Antonio News. 25 Nov. 2008. KSEN 25 Nov. 2008<http://www.mysanantonio.com/sports/U...irst_to_stump_ for_team.html>.

Schad, Joe. "Chair of BCS committee not on board with Obama." ESPN Headlines. 12 Nov. 2008. ESPN. 25 Nov. 2008 <http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/s...7109&campaign= rss&source=ESPNHeadlines>.

USA Today. "Pros, cons of a college football playoff." 9 Sep. 2004. USA Today. 17 Nov. 2008 <http://www.usatoday.com/sports/2004-09-09-ten- changes-playoff-pros-cons_x.htm>.

I know the spacing is off, it's so on word I can fill all the way across the page. And it's the forums that are shortening my links.

perhaps you should go to a library or bookstore and look it up in the MLA style book. The majority of those generators and websites you're referring to are put up by students for class projects and thus are not trustworthy enough.

Automatic works cited and bibliography formatting for MLA, APA and Chicago/Turabian citation styles. Now supports MLA 9.

Author Last Name, Author First Name. "Article Title." Title of Site. Date <http: www.unknownwebsite.com="" unknown="">.

here's an example for what the date needs to look like, 22 Feb. 2008

edit: your websites look spot on, just remember on each one you have to indent on every line except for the first.

Everything you need is right here, this is pretty much the best website there is for MLA format.

            Citation Machine

Easiest thing in the world to use, just plug in your info and it will shoot out the citation.

                Apparently they were all wrong.

The website of the book we use for the class. It has it as

Re: MLA Citation(help out an OSer)

Interesting! From experience, I'd stick with the method used in the book supplied by the class. Even if the correct way is not in the book, you won't need to go through the appeals process if you get marked down over the confusion.

Any chance of sharing the essay? I'm interested in reading the pro-playoff argument.
