I'm planning on trying to get back into hard liquor over the Christmas break, so this thread is going to come in handy.

That said...I had enough jello shots to feel them for the first time this weekend and damn those things hit hard when they actually hit.

I had a few 7 & 7's at my gals work Christmas party tonight. It had been awhile since I had those but I'm picking up a bottle of Seagram's tomorrow. Tasty stuff.

It seems like Soco is a popular choice.

Why do some of you enjoy that as opposed to other liquor?

SoCo is a whiskey/bourbon that's not as strong as straight whiskey or bourbon. It's a little sweeter and a little smoother. SoCo and lime is a decent shot that's not difficult to stomach. SoCo and sour would make a lighter version of a whiskey and sour.

If you're looking to make shots that go down easy, taste good and aren't as potent as taking a regular shot of vodka or rum, try kamikazes. I believe the recipe I used was 2 parts vodka, 2 parts vermouth (not dry) and 1 part lime juice. Put in a shaker with some ice and serve away.

4 oz Cran-Blueberry Juice
4 oz Soda Water

Most of the grain vodka's are pure marketing. So if you going to have the bartender reaching for the top shelf at least have him or her grab the good stuff. CHOPIN is my personal favorite and is distilled potatoes however Ketel One is solid choice.

Mix: cranberry

Few places know how to make one but a Mojito is pretty much the only thing I'll drink out of a straw. It just a personal quirk of mine but I feel that the straw for guys should be to stir and discard or else somehow the pinky gets raised and it just doesn't look right.
