    Identity Theft Victim...Take 2

Wow is this annoying. I don't know what identity theft is like in the states but here in London (been here for almost a year) has been a killer. Twice in two months my credit card/bank card has been hacked or cloned (or something) and I've been charged with payments to collection agencies, rental cars, council tax, and a flight to Spain. Again I'm having to cancel my card and order a new one and fill out a bunch of paper work to get refunded the money. I'll get the money back but it is just the annoyance.

Borrowing money from friends and family this time of year doesn't do me any favors in the friends department.

Anyways, I just had to come to OS and vent after dealing with this all night. That is step 1.

    Step 2 is alcohol.

Have the banks offered any explanation as to why this might be happening?

If it's been twice, might be time to consider that the thieves have more than your credit card information. They might have personal information that gets them to find our your credit card numbers.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer

Once I fill in my fraud claim form I am going to take it to my bank and get set up with a new account number and everything. I'm convinced it has been cloned (which is a big problem here in London) and considering I use it to buy everything (at numerous times throughout every day).

Hopefully once I have done that and just start using cash I shouldn't have a problem. I hope, anyways.
