Re: So - what did you get?
I remember when I was 12 and my mom told me that she was going to file for a divorce from my violent and scumbag of a father. I don't think I have ever been as happy as I was at that moment. My best Christmas memory/gift (unfortunately).Last edited by AlexBrady; 12-25-2008, 01:20 AM.Comment

Re: So - what did you get?
Hey now...some of us open our gifts on Christmas Eve. My Mom's family did that, while my Dad's did them all on Christmas Morning. So, when I was growing up, we'd do a few on Christmas Eve and the rest in the morning.
What I opened tonight were some wool socks, a way to thin polo shirt, sweats, and 'LittleBigPlanet' on PS3, which is an AWESOME game, at least the hour or so I put into it.Comment

Re: So - what did you get?
Thanks man. I might be able to get a gift or two this year actually. Maybe All Pro Football but other than that it will be just another unexiting Christmas for me as usual. At least I'm used to it but I'm really hoping my luck turns around.Comment

Re: So - what did you get?
my wife and i have 4 kids under the age of 9...so it's all about the kids. our oldest is into sports and video games...next one loves art...the third one is a brat (but i love him to death - the problem is what to buy a brat...). and our little girl (she's 3) is into tinkerbell, dolls and hello kitty.
my wife and i wait until after christmas and then go get something together. we just bought a home back in may (our first) and got a lot of stuff then that we needed (we were lifelong renters).
i was mildly surprised today as i went to the office and on my desk was a card with a $500 bonus check...very humbling, considering there are many today without a job.
i'm taking two of my boys and one of their friends to the lightning / panthers hockey game saturday night as well. plus, our oldest son's birthday is sunday.
...i'm blessed, probably more than i deserve.
hope all of you have a Merry CHRISTmas!STEELERS INDIANS CELTICS

Re: So - what did you get?
We're staying at the in-laws for the Holidays and they celebrate more on Christmas Eve than Christmas Day.
The family opened a lot of gifts tonight, but we still saved a lot for our three kids to open tomorrow morning. We spoiled the hell out of them this year.
My wife and I promised each other that we wouldn't go overboard on each other this year so I ended up getting a cool framed picture of the two of us and a few other knick-knacks.
Then, she dropped the hammer on me out of nowhere (mind you we can't keep secrets from each other to save our lives):
She bought tickets to the Broncos vs. Chargers game a month ago. I don't know how she kept her mouth shut through the miracle win versus Kansas City or last week as we watched the Bills squeak by the Broncos. She said she had hoped the Chargers would have a shot at the end of the year but was sweating bullets with each game.
So now my eight year old, my wife, and I are all going to stay in a hotel in downtown San Diego on Sunday night where they are having a pre-game kick-off party, taking the trolley to the stadium, and going to hopefully watch the Chargers make it into the playoffs in prime time.
The look on my son's face was absolutely priceless.
The best part is 10 minutes later when my brother-in-law handed his girlfriend her gift and when she opened it there was a small jewelry box taped to the bottom of the box with a light in it shining down on a ring from inside the small jewelry box. He started to get teary-eyed and asked her to marry him.
(This is a huge step for him. He's 27 and the entire family really loves his girlfriend but he was a little scared of a big commitment).
She was speechless....but managed to get out a "yes".
It's been an amazing Christmas.Comment
