      Yeah.

I have a question for you. Overall would you prefer that guy or someone whose voice, in the same genre, is technically better like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=635P03aWfmA?
I prefer the second guy more. His voice is better, though he does force it at times, but that is more for keeping his voice in tact for a tour or so on. I think he is a tenor and his voice sounds pretty good. Also, the first guy got a bit annoying after a bit; this guy, not so much.

I like the second guy more too. He has a super high voice. The reason that it sounds forced though is because from what I've heard it's essentially a scream from his chest voice.

Also which singer best personifies your ideal vocalist?

And if your looking for good singers in the new generation of rock music, you really don't need to look any further than Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy.

                And I am being serious.

He could be in "mix" voice, which is pretty much having resonance from your head voice (giving that higher pitch) but the a bottom half of chest voice in there. In the end, he isn't "in" head voice, but it's kind of like he's in higher pitch with his chest voice.

I'm not too sure about my ideal vocalist. I guess it would be the singer who when a song of his is played, everyone in the room knows exactly who it is. The vocalist who is unique (he doesn't have to be amazing, just unique) and sings with emotion.

I'd have to strongly disagree there. He's pretty good but many are better. My list would go like this

                    1. Myles Kennedy - Alter Bridge
                    2. Anthony Green - Circa Survive
                    3. Dallas Green - Alexisonfire
                    4. Johnny Craig - Emarosa
                    5. Geoff Rickly - Thursday
                    6. Craig Owens - Chiodos
                    and then maybe
                    7. Patrick Stump - Fall Out Boy

Depends what you're looking for, to be honest. Stump's voice is no longer as "hard" as some of the others on your list, so obviously if you're looking for that type, I'd agree he'd be down the list.

But if I'm looking for a vocalist that I can sell CDs with because he has a very good range in the "modern-day rock"...I'd probably put Stump at 1a or 1b with Kennedy. A. Green is damn good, too.

Would like to add I've never heard of J. Craig, but I've heard, at least a couple of songs of each of the others. Probably not enough to really comment on Dallas Green or Craig Owns, but I've listened to both before.

                        That's true too.

I don't think that that popularity level can be achieved in this day because there are so many genres that each group has their fan group and others hate them just because their so different from the other group. Nice discription though.

I prefer to go more on a competition style of judging. I would go by the most ideal combination of

                        Uniqueness
                        Tone
                        Range
                        Emotion

and decide out of all of those.

I think your crazy to be honest, hahaha. Anthony Green's voice is nice, but it is a little annoyingly high pitched. Craig Owens? Come on, haha. And the guy from Thursday only conveys emotion, it is obvious he isn't that great of a vocalist.

Patrick's voice is distinct. He has tremendous range. He can do it live, I have witnessed it. Not to mention he plays guitar while singing these songs.

Have you listened to the newest CD of theirs? If not I would say give it a shot. That CD exemplifies what I am trying to say. Just an incredible vocalist, and pretty good guitarist.

I'm not really looking at CD sellers really. I mostly judge by skill for which you can get better insight of in my last post. Most of the guys on my list are Post-Hardcore vocalists as I feel that that genre best personifies what I'm looking for in a good vocalist. Johnny Craig was the lead in Dance Gavin Dance and is currently in Emarosa. If you want to look into the guys that you haven't heard of here are some good tracks that I think best show them off

Anthony Green's range sets him apart
Geoff Rickly's emotion is the best I've ever heard in a singer IMO
Craig Owens is solid all around

Patrick Stump is good and his voice is unique but in what I've heard of FOB his range isn't too amazing and I hardly get any emotion from anything I hear out of him.

btw a lot of people say that my music taste and judgement is insane so I'll take no offense on that

                                Dallas Green - Rough Hands
I love Chiodos and I have seen them twice. Owens doesn't touch Patrick though. He is good in his own right screaming/singing are tough to do. And he has a nice scream and a decent voice. His scream is better than his singing voice IMO.
I don't like the Yankees, I like the Red Sox, I don't like the Lakers, I like the Celtics, I hate the Canadiens and I love the Bruins. Soccer is the best sport on Earth, but most Americans are too ignorant to realize it. I am American.
