Have you ever saved someones life?

I was at a wedding a couple of years ago at a lakehouse. Everyone was out side mingling and what not. It's on a hill so there is a line of staircases going down.

An old lady was walking up the widest one about 15 feet wide. This thing is about 7 feet up, solid concrete all the way day to a brick floor. This lady had to be about 80. Not sure how she fell, but she started to fall backwards from the 2nd step from the top. Some how I was able to react fast enough to catch her at almost the very bottom. Being so old she would of either died or broken every bone in her body.

Anyone else have life saving stories?

Too many times to count, but interestingly enough my wife has, THREE TIMES, and they all involved the Heimlich Maneuver and people in restaurants. Lucky for those people she was there, didn't panic and knew how to pull it off, no one else around reacted.

And Ollie that's pretty cool. It's just something you have inside of you. It's sort of a "fight or flight" reaction when you can act instantly to a situation and help someone.

We used to visit Big Bear alot while living in San Diego and it was about March so the lake was still extremely cold but we still tried fishing off a boat dock that stretched out pretty far. A kid, maybe 4, slipped and fell off the dock into the water. Luckily I saw a glimpse of his head and the splash as he was falling in and grabbed his arm just in time before he went any deeper. I dont think anyone else noticed until I had a hold of him and began to pull him up

yes- The Heimlich maneuver once-It was my Wife. that was a terrifying moment watching someone almost choke to death.

Last year around this time, I on my way to pick my wife up from work. I was pulling out of the parking lot and I saw a little kid standing in the middle of the lot. He couldn't have been more than 4. It was about 20 degrees, and snowing hard out, and the kid had no coat on. I stopped and asked him what he was doing and where he lived and he had no clue. He was crying and his har was frozen. I told him to get in my car but he wouldn't do it. So I put my jacket, hat and gloves on him. I kept him close to me and called 911. They came and the medics took him into the ambulance to make sure he was ok. Then I left to pick up my wife.

So I don't really know if I saved his life or not.

Oh he lived. I have seen him and his obviously deadbeat parents around since then. I was going to ask for my gloves back, but I thought naaa. lol

Oh and I forgot to mention about 4 cars just drove right around him before I stopped.

My girlfreind and I went to a movie, on the way out, she crossed the street with out looking and a car came flying around a soft corner making a right. I saw the car coming, my GF froze, the car hit the breaks, and started sliding.

without thinking i ran behind her, physically picked her up, and got her out of the way right before we both got hit.

I felt pretty badass after that, but i was stunned for like two days thinking about it.

Two years ago a lady was crossing the street, into a moving car. I tried stopping her and we both got hit. She walked away with a few bruises while I broke my arm. I guess you could say I saved her since the car struck at an angle, rather than head on.

I hadn't realized it until months after the incident, that I could've died on that day, but these thoughts all went out the window as I "used" that hand (on the broken arm) while surfing the net. Yeah, I take life one day at a time; forget the past!

I haven't but my dad saved my brother one time when he was choking on a buffalo chicken wing. He basically just put his finger down my brother's throat and made him gag and the chicken wing came out. Scared the hell out of me, though.

A few weeks ago I stopped a baby(in carriage) from rolling into a busy street. It's parents were arguing in front of the train station and the carriage started to roll down the ramp.

Back in high school, a friend of mine was bumrushed by twenty-thirty other HSers. I ran across the street in front of them and yelled "stop!" before they got to him. I thought we were both going to die. Instead, one of them asked, "He's with you?" I said, "Yeah." Then they all turned around and walked away. We were like WTF?? It was one of the most bizarre things that has ever happened to me.
