    Motorcycle Drivers

Guys, I'm curious to know how the motorcycle drivers in the US drive? In my country many of them in the city act like they're pedestirans: They cross the road using the pedestrian crossing, sometimes drive on the sidewalk, drive the in a one-way street to the opposite direction etc.. Oh and usually they bypass cars very dangerously, so if you aren't looking at your side mirrors every couple of seconds you might hit them.
What's it like in the US? Do they "behave" better, or the same like here?

Most of them behave much better. They act like cars for the most part.
Every once in awhile you while run into some jackass with a deathwish on a croth rocket that is going 150 on a busy expressway.

Other than that I think most Motorcylists behave quite well.

Good to know. Oh, and I forgot to mention that on highways those drivers (mostly with bigger motorcycles) usually drive at leats 20 mph over the speed limit. When I go with my dad on his car and we see a m.c driver who drives as if he was a car and according to the speed limit, it seems very unusual. My dad always feels like he needs to congratulate this driver for driving like he should...LOL.

Its bad in bigger cities. You have the guys that want to show off and speed, move in and out of lanes, etc. They do obey the laws though about driving the correct direction and most of them will stay on the road. If there is bad traffic though, I have seen them go on the shoulder, but usually there is a cop at some point. Its only the guys on the sport bikes, the harley guys are never a problem, unless there is 50 of them on the road for some drive.

I have now owned both a rocket and a cruiser. In Wisconsin....both type of bike drivers are usually really good. The only problem I have ever had is when Harley has a huge anniversery and thousands from across the states come in. They ride in huge packs...range of 10-20 and they act as one car.

Talking about show off, many times I hear a bike coming and then see him going on the rear wheel (front wheel up in the air), and they do it sometimes when there's traffic all around. I lived for a few months in a street where every night there were 2 idiots with their bikes doing this trick in the middle of a junction - even if the light was red. They would go back and forth for about 45 minutes until they'd finally leave. I'm so glad I moved from there. Man, some bikers here are so ****ing stupid!!!

There are 2 types of riders in the U.S.

1.) Those who have been in an accident.
2.) Those who will be in an accident.

It's the cars you gotta worry about when you ride here.

Well, whenever I see a biker goes really fast - way above the speed limit - I say that he's in a rush for his funeral.

My brother has gotten some grief for buying a 2009 Ninja 250R instead of getting a 650 or bigger. That he needed to "get a real bike."

                  "The 250s are too slow."

Uhh... when the Bike can top out at 110mph - where is that too slow?

When you're using the bike as a commuter getting 55mpg and only on roads that are 35-45mph, again, why do you need a bike that does 180mph?!!?

Like some of the guys have said above.

You've got those that have been in accidents (most of them here in the USA are caused from excessive speed and are normally single vehicle accidents).

In my area of Raleigh, NC there's a ton more bikers out there now. Cars are watching out for them since most of them don't want to be the one that hits a biker and faces a huge lawsuit.
