Do you get along well with your neighbours?

My neighbours are weird in that they are the total opposite of what you would think they are if you judged them on first appearances.

On one side we have this husband and wife who are covered in Tatts, have a huge Patriots Motorcycle Club banner on their back porch and are always drinking booze. After chatting with them a few times they are really nice, down to earth people who are very considerate (they have little gathering of biker friends every week but they keep the noise down and even turn off the stereo once it gets to about 11pm).

On the other side is a family and with older (say mid 20's) kids. The father is always giving dirty looks and stands there while his little poodle comes and craps in our front yard. This guy looks like a regular Joe but he comes across as a-hole and always throws large branches from his overgrown back yard into mine. When ever he and his wife go out his little dogs yap for hours on end and never shut up untill they get back.

How well or pooly do you guys get on with your neighbours?

I don't like to be bothered, so I don't know any of my neighbors. I'll wave or say hi, but that's about it.

I get along well with my neighbours. Where I live everyone knows each other and helps each other out.

I get along with mine pretty well...Some of the things they do im kinda like..ehh..but other than that there fine.

I keep to myself for the most part. My neighbors speak little to no English, they won't acknowledge me when i say hi, they just look at me and go to the apartment upstairs or into the apartment across the way.

Family to the left is awesome, hardcore Irish with two sons who are 11 and 10 years old. Very nice, my father is very good friends with their father. Fam across the street to the left is an older couple, late 60's or early 70's. The husband is very nice, talk to him whenever I see him. I don't think I've said a word to the wife in the 15 years we've lived here. Guy directly across the street is a mess, been arrested for weed possession quite a few times and is pretty much an a-hole. Family directly the right is a buncha stuck up pricks, I walk right by them and don't say hello.

I generally don't like other people, so I never really have a desire to get to know neighbors.

My neighbors (in the graduate dorms) are all international. I believe the majority of people on the floor is in the US with an international student visa, and pretty much every continent other than Antarctica is represented. There were some hardcore soccer fans from all leagues, not just the EPL, so it was kinda cool talking football with these guys and gals. It's something we all have in common, even with the language barrier that is between most of us here on the floor.

I live on a corner. The older couple next door, the wife is fine and the husband is a jerk. He has this arrogance about him. The people next to them are cool. The people directly across from me I do not talk to. The people next to them are cool. It is a younger couple with 2 young kids. When are lawnmower broke last year he came over without anyone asking and cut out grass for us. When my dad was in the hospital to have his colon surgery he came and visited my dad.

I guess I get along. Most of the people in my apartment complex go to the same college. Say hi to them in passing and what not but I tend to keep to myself.

Damn that is pretty nice of them! You guys must be pretty close. My cousin has put a gate through their back fence to their neighbours because they get on so well and their kids are always playing together etc.

Because we are only renting at the moment i really don't care if i know my neighbours but we have bought a block of land and will be building this year and i'll make a point of going over and getting to know our neighbours. I figure seeing as we will be living there for probably the next 20-30 years at least knowing the neighbours will be a huge advantage.

Nine out of 10 of them are great...then there's my next door neighbor. I don't know what I did to deserve it but I'm willing to take the $40,000 loss to move, which is why my house is on the market.

What are they like?

A buddy of mine used to live next door to this family and they were pretty nice people 90% of the time. The other 10% the father would drink untill he was out of his head (the guy was a child councillor as well so he'd be lecturing kids about the dangers of alcohol one day they getting hammered the next) and turn violent.

One time we were sitting in my friends back yard in his pool (there was a group of about 10 of us) and his neighbour started kicking the fence down and was screaming "I'll cut off ya f'en heads!!" over and over again. He ended kicking down 3 fence pailings (barefoot mind you so his foot was a bloody mess) before he sort of stumbled, fell over and passed out. Needless to say my friend has since moved house. The guy was so nice when he was sober then turned into a real lunatic when he got on the booze.
