If you have unlimited text, why would you call someone and waste your minutes if you don't have the unlimited plan?

I guess cause I'm not a teenager & don't feel a need to be on the phone 24/7. I've yet to use 220 of my free 700 minutes a month. I don't see the purpose of having a phone & not talking.

Although I agree with the fact that texting is impersonal and things are lost in translation, I am also accepting the game that I am part of a generation that is obsessed with it. I have unlimited text and text about a maximum of 500 a month.

I sent 400 in a day once. It was this past football season for my first homecoming as an alumni and was planning with people the entire day on stuff to do. At one point my phone buzzed for 20 seconds and I received 10 text at one time.

Honestly, that part is really the only part I can laugh at.

I send a lot of texts, I won't lie. It's a lot easier for me than calling because I never know if the person I'm texting is in class or at work, and I'm usually in class when I text, so I can't really call.

But texting someone right next to you? Pathetic. I've only done it once with someone in the same room as me and that was because there was a third party in the room that we needed to talk about.

Texting is awesome while I'm at work or if I don't actually want to have a true phone conversation with somebody. It's quick and to the point without all the extra bull****.

Mine have started to and while at first it was annoying, now its kind of nice. I love them and everything but if I have a simple question they can answer in one word, it saves me an entire 20 minute conversation of what I've been up to when all I want is just a simple answer.

Text messages are better than phone conversations because I loathe talking to people on the phone. With a phone conversation, that's ALL you can do. You're basically tied into it. You can't watch TV, you can't take a ****, you can't do homework, you cant listen to music, etc.

Texting allows me to avoid talking to people I don't particularly want to talk to for a long time anyway. It's not as intrusive either, if you know someone can't pick up their phone wherever they may be at the moment.

My mom texts me a lot, mainly with simple questions that, as you said don't require a 20 minute conversation and my Dad just started learning how to text. His are absolutely hysterical because he hasn't learned a lot yet, so if he misspells something he just keeps going because he doesn't know how to go back and change it.

My parents text me sometimes. Whenever I'm with my mom and she wants to text something, I end up taking her phone out of frustration and send the text message myself because I can send it about 100x faster than she can.

Same way as you. It was weird at first but now it's fine.

Instead of calling my dad at 2am, waking him up just to let him know I'll be out all night, I can just send a text and if he wakes up, he'll check his phone and not have to worry. It's really nice.
