How long did it take you to decide what to major in?

I'm only in my 2nd semester, but have absolutely no idea what I want to be. The family legacy is being a professional computer nerd, but I'm not sure I wanna go that way. Going to CC getting the useless crap out of the way so I have at least a year to decide.

How long did it take everyone to finally decide?

I spent the first four semester as a journalism major, before I switched to Political Science.

I spent the first 3 semesters as an engineering major before I switched to finance.

I'm in my 6th semester, and I've been in Journalism since day one and wont switch out.

Different people take different amounts of time to decide. I'm not even sure I'll end up being a journalist, but I'm giving it a shot and I'll persue a different career in the future if it doesn't work out.

In high school I wanted to be an Architect, until I learned that too many of the upper level d-bags will take your ideas and you'll be a wage slave for a lot of years in a firm unless you are successful and strike out on your own. So, I decided I wanted to be an engineer.

In college, it took a year to change from my declared Mechanical specialty...a little class called C++. I hate programming (though I CAN do AutoCAD) but that class killed me. I switched to Civil, had to take Fortran (a dead language) and was able to carry a 3.4 GPA my last two years. First two years? Sub-1.8.

Middle year...eh...right around a 2-2.5.

I attended two semesters of college in the Commerce program, about five years ago. I gave it up and decided to follow my dreams (I had decided this as a child) of becoming a musician. Life is good right now, and I like working around the world. It's like a job on the run. Eventually, I'll settle down and open up a restaurant.

I was smart though, A's in pretty much all my classes.

I wanted to build rocket ships, but I later decided it would be much easier to politically science people.

Half way through my sophomore year, I had to pick a major, and I walked in planning on choosing criminal justice or psychology, but I said government, so that's what I'm doing.

I knew I was going into Broadcasting in elementary school.


Just so happened that Bama has one of the best TCF departments in the nation.

My family has been in construction so I was pretty much decided before going into college on what I wanted.

But it took me till 19 to get going, I was distracted by racing professionally in motocross

I'm a Sport Management major with a minor in Marketing. The summer before my junior year in high school, when I was starting the college search is when I realized that this is what I want to do for a career.

Not in College, and I'm only a sophomore in HS. I'm pretty sure I want to major in Business Administration or something along those lines. I actually would like to somewhere I can get out of college in 5 years with my undergrad and MBA. I really want to go to Penn, Emory, or Vandy. I have some friends that go to those schools and really love it.

I would look at Maryland. They have the most exclusive business school in the country. Harvard, Yale, and the others quake in fear at the Smith School of Bidness. Don't believe me? Just axe them, they'll tell you all about it.

You're way ahead of me, I'm a year ahead of you in shcool...but I haven't even started thinking about what I want to major in. I know my brother already knew what he wanted to major in(political science) around this time his junior year, and makes me think I should probably start thinking about it soon.
