    Ebay

I've been thinking about buying some stuff off Ebay, but I was wondering how everything goes down.

Mainly after I win, will the money be taken straight out by Paypal or do I have to do something?

I guess I don't want to just see what happens so if anyone could help, it'd be great!

    Re: Ebay

I check the person's history to see how long they've been selling for and there's not a ton of negative feedback.

I dont believe (haven't used ebay in a long time) the money gets removed from your Paypal automatically, you have to log in and pay for it- I think you need to have an account with Paypal to use it?

      Re: Ebay

After you win the auction, you will receive an e-mail asking you for payment. If PayPal is one of their accepted methods, you just log into your account via the link and authorize the payment. It always gives you a chance to approve -- it won't just charge your account. Some sellers have their own checkout site where you can pay with credit card, etc. But NEVER go outside of eBay to finish a deal otherwise -- if someone asks you to wire them money instead of waiting for the auction to end, it's likely a scam.

If you do a "buy it now", you would skip the auction step and agree to purchase the item and then the process is basically the same from there. PayPal won't charge things automatically, it always has to be user-initiated.

Awesome thanks guys. I already have an account with PayPal so I guess that's all I need. I guess I'm always skeptical from all the negative things I've heard.

Just buy from people with high positive feedback. If someone is offering a brand new 360 for $50 and they have sold 1 item on ebay, it's likely a scam. I think every purchase I have made on ebay has been from these companies that have millions of sales.
