The $5 was different at other stores also. There were some places that had $5 on most of the subs, some on only a few. Hopefully this is national and on all subs.

Re: 5 Dollar Foot Longs @ Subway
Yeah, try that recipe out and let me know what you think. I'll go in and edit that when I get home to this effect, but the filling recipe that I used ended up making about 60 dumplings. If you scaled it back to 1lb of pork as suggested, it should be right around 35-40. The dough recipe with 2 cups of flour was good for about 25-30 dumplings, so scale according to how many you want to make.
Like making tamales or something similarly time-consuming, you may as well go all out and make a day of it, especially since they freeze and cook from frozen well. If you freeze them, you'll just need to allow some extra cook time in any of the methods. If you steam them, just let them go 2-3 minutes longer, but for potstickers, you'll want to add a bit more water and let the 2nd step in the cooking process (adding water to the hot pan) last another 2-3 minutes. The filling is raw so you definitely want to make sure it's cooked through.Last edited by Stumbleweed; 01-27-2009, 05:35 PM.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

Enjoyed that food blog a decent bit. Good stuff.I don't like the Yankees, I like the Red Sox, I don't like the Lakers, I like the Celtics, I hate the Canadiens and I love the Bruins. Soccer is the best sport on Earth, but most Americans are too ignorant to realize it. I am American.

Damn, I want a sub now."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace
