    Weight loss supplements

Hey guys. I was looking for some advice on whether or not weight loss pills help, and if they do, specifically which ones? I'm currently 6', 215 pounds, and in pretty decent shape. Used to be around 6', 185 pounds, but we all know what happens to exercise time when you have kids. Anyways, one of my buddies who wanted to get leaner for his college baseball team started using Hydroxycut, and said it's working great so far. He's obviously exercising as well.

I was just wondering if these things really work, or if he's just got a better mindset now that he thinks the pills are working. I have a little bit of time a day to workout, mainly on an exercise bike me and my wife got for Xmas, and we have also started eating quite a bit healthier (whole wheat breads, low calorie packs, etc.). Anyone have tips on which diet pills work, if any, and what the side effects are? I looked on google, but there are so many conflicting reviews, I can't tell if all are true or not. I know I can trust the OS community, so gimme a hand!

I also suggest this book by Bill Wolcott

      The Metobolic Typing diet
      by Bill Wolcott

Explore Price-Pottenger for key insights into nutrition and holistic health. Empower your wellness journey with our expert-led education.

      is also a good resource.

basically, and this is being 100% sincere... just dont eat garbage, and dont look for the easy way out when it comes to health... eating right, and i mean eating RIGHT (whole foods, organic foods, good water, grass fed animal meat, etc etc) is really easy... you just have to associate yourself with other people who do it... so it means something to you.

**** "losing weight"... just Get Healthy.

      ps. sorry for the sermon...

        Re: Weight loss supplements

i lost 100 lbs... quite a bit when you're only 5'6" to start. i've used a ton of supplements in my day, and since i'm a bodybuilder, well, you experiment. gain weight, lose weight, etc.

the truth is, supplements can help a little bit, but most of it's in your head. there are 100s of different "truths" to dieting... different myths, theories, etc, but when it comes down to it, diet is #1, with exercise being a FAR FAR FAR #2. and #3, well... supplements.

most things over the counter are crap. they're caffeine based pills with wannabe ephedrine knockoffs added. that's it. they won't up your metabolism more than a couple percent and will leave you hungry and tired after coming down. hey, i've used tons of them and the most successful thing you can do is slowly cutting your calories and drinking lots of water to help with appetite. game over.

        and good luck!!!!!

              Re: Weight loss supplements

There's nothing new about the human body, even with a multi-billion dollar of weight loss products sold per year.

Balanced diet, limited calories and exercise, end of story.

The rest of this stuff will only help with quick, limited, weight loss which will be gained back quickly, in the majority of people they will gain back more than they lose with any gimmick diet.

There's no magic diet, the science on Atkins is still very mixed in terms of cholesterol and overall health. You have to accept losing 1-3 pound a week depending on your exercise output and overall weight. When you lose it right, you're losing mostly fat too.

Also avoid "colonics" (tube + water + ***) your body needs some of that healthy bacteria in your intestines, metamucil, etc. will do the trick. I hear these stupid colon cleansing pill commercials all the time, overpriced nonsense.

No weight loss products work, they are all a huge waste of money.

Spend time figuring out the right way to do things and then commit yourself to eating well and exercising properly and you'll get all the results you need - while saving money.

Pretty much, just exercise and stop eating a bunch of processed crap, and you'll lose weight like I did. 30lbs in 2 months and some here have done even better than that the same way.

Thanks for the advice guys. If someone doesn't mind taking a look at what I eat each day, i'd appreciate some advice on whether or not i'm eating well enough to lose some decent weight.

Breakfast (7:00): Bowl of Wheaties w/ skim milk + multivitamin

9:00-10:00: 1-2 pieces of peanut butter toast on whole wheat bread

Lunch (12:00-1:00): Healthy Choice/Smart Ones frozen meal

At work (5:00): 100 Calorie pack (usually Special K Bar or chocolate cream cakes)

At work (7:00): Dinner - Diet Coke, Hillshire Farm lunchmeat sandwich on whole wheat bread w/ low fat cheese, light mayo. Serving of BBQ Baked Lays. Sometimes another 100 calorie pack, as i'm just getting used to eating only to be satisfied and not to be full.

After work (11:00) - Fruit (banana usually)

Throughout the day, I only really drink water or juices, no more soda aside from Diet Coke at dinner time at work. I fell as though i'm doing ok, but i'm not sure if some of the food i'm eating, mainly the 100 calorie packs, are really all that good for me. Thanks guys!

I assume you want to "cut" ie, lose weight, correct?

The only stuff that 100% worked is now illegal (Ephedra).

I've heard Green Tea pills are a decent natural way, but it's all about burning more calories than you take in.

Ephedra is legal now again. That was reversed. The ban was a JOKE. ephedra works and has been used for a long LONG time. gee, who knew if you were running like a fiend in 95 degree heat PLUS taking ephedra there might be issues? i won't even get started there.....
